I Took These 14 Photos Of Massive Wildfires A Day Before Evacuation From My House In Oregon
My name is Naomi, and I evacuated due to the Riverside Fire in Oregon. The day before, I drove into the “red zone” just miles from my house. These are the photos I took along the way.
These conditions took over my neighborhood and city as we packed our bags, loaded our cars, and fled.
Please, keep Oregon in your prayers.

Share on FacebookI empathise with everyone of you caught in those fires. We in Australia know and understand what Great fires and firestorms can do we saw if all last years and parts of this year for 6 months solid. You have our sympathy hold on grab what you need and get out. "things" can be replace but human lives are precious and cannot. Take care all of you.
Beautiful yet terrifying. I'm in Sweet Home, and we're fortunate to still be on Level 1. It's really intense when you see this in person! Stay safe, Naomi!
You too! Hopefully the rain will come soon!
Load More Replies...This has been going on in the PNW for over 5 years now. Washington,California,Oregon . All of us are having catastrophic wildfires almost every year.
Load More Replies...I couldn't capture the ominous colors of the sky no matter how may photo filters I tried. It's something out of HP Lovecraft! Evacuation level 1 here, Portland-ish, ahoy. An experienced friend from Cali said, this being a first forest fire experience, is a doozee of an intro.
Please take care, Naomi. I'm in the UK and it's hard to imagine anything like these weather conditions, let alone the fires. I hope you and your family are safe. And thank you for taking time to take photos and to share them at a time when everything is so dangerous and so much upheaval. God bless you.
Darlin', y'all stay safe out there. We are on the Gulf Coast and are about to have more rain than we need. Wish we could send it to you. Be safe and let everyone know how it turned out.
I live right next to Oregon, it's really smokey and the fires are getting closer to where I live😓
I'm an Aussie (Victorian) bush firefighter, if anyone ever gets a fire evacuation notice PLEASE EVACUATE!!! Things can be replaced, people can not be. Also what ever you do, please do not enter a fire zone to take some selfies. The amount of people that traveled to the fire zones this past summer was ridiculous. I hope everyone over in the US stay safe, especially the smoke eaters.
I'm several hours away on the other side of the Cascade mountains and the smoke has been at very dangerous levels. My senior citizen complex actually has smoky hallways in spite of the ac. But I want to mention the good folks out here; like my friend Ms. D, who has taken in several families with RVs and their animals. Even some wild animals, esp. deer, appear periodically. They seem to sense it's safe and are coming for water.
Thank you for these powerful photos Naomi. Years ago I lived in Oregon and now am in California. Of course I will keep a good thought for you and your community. Do what it takes to stay safe, your health is the most important thing. If documenting and helping us see this tragedy helps you stay focused, then do it. I started the international covid-19 art project, may we put one or some of your photos into our our public health archive? This is an important part of our pandemic history, that millions are simultaneously going through natural disasters. We are here: https://projectcovid19.org
What a terrifying situation, hoping & wishing everyone there stays safe Xxx
Frightening pictures! The devastation on people, their homes, lives & pets, it is beyond belief!
Please listen to the fire Marshalls and evacuate asa soon as you get the call. The wind storms are terrible and unpredictable. I send you my love and good thoughts and hope. Stay safe. xoxo
