Someone Notices Rihanna’s New Lingerie Is Different For Thin And Plus-Size Women, Posts Side-By Side Comparison

Rihanna took the cosmetic world by storm when she gave women of all shades what they had asked for for so many years – the correct shade – so when she released ads for her new body inclusive Savage X Fenty lingerie line we knew once again that Rhi Rhi would bless us – for some though the praise was premature.
On Wednesday the singer turned style mogul released her Savage X Fenty’s Valentine’s Day Decadence collection with bra sizes in 32A to 42DD for bras and XS to 3X for panties and bralettes, and while the sizes ranged – so did the designs. Teen Vogue Fashion blogger Alysse Dalessandro took to Twitter upon the design release to question why the design differences between the smaller and larger sizes were so drastic, using the “Hearts Unlined Bra” and “Hearts Half Cup Bralette” designs as an example.
As some pointed out while structural differences are sometimes required to give plus sized women more support, that doesn’t have to come at the cost of sexiness. To further prove this point Instagram user Ashleigh Tribble, who has called out Savage X Fenty before, told Teen Vogue ” other brands that cater to plus-sizes have no problem creating the same, or even sexier, lingerie.”

But one fashion blogger quickly noticed some pretty obvious design differences between the small and plus sizes

She also said that “A lot of people have pointed out they think that the straight size bra would not work for plus-size women. I think that’s not recognizing all of the ways that personal style and body type vary by person. Not everyone cares about support. That’s a personal choice.”

Oh, the uproar! Finally, we have something to be offended by, again. Brexit chaos in Europe? War in Syria? Shutdown in the US? Hell, who cares, we can be offended by the fact that apparel with fine details does not scale from XS to XXXL. (I truly hope this post does not offend anyone, but I am rather sure it will.)
I agree with Meowton, but really, the importance of female clothing issues is often underestimated. I understand ending a war is more important (I was literally born into one), and I understand very poor women cannot even afford to buy and wear ANY bra. But does that mean that I have to live a miserable life because there's no support and no clothes that would emphasize my otherwise beautiful body? Life is not eternal and youth is short. You have to enjoy it while you can, but without proper clothes, there's something that's missing. It's about self-expression we're talking about, not about some self-entitlement and exaggerated demands.
@Daria: I agree. But would you go looking for proper attire or shop stuff that has been designed by a Singer not yet known for her studies of anatomy, posture, and sports?
Your post isn’t offensive but it is objectively wrong. Alysse wasn’t offended, she was pointing out a flaw in someone’s supposedly inclusive clothing line. It’s not a big deal, but you’re like panicking about it. I guarantee that chick cares about at least one of those issues you pointed out, as it is possible to care about more than one thing at a time. I care about the shutdown and Syria, probably more than many people, and I still get frustrated when I can’t find a bra in my size. It’s fucking annoying. I see my tits and think, “I’m pretty normal looking, my boobs are common enough,” but then go shopping and struggle to find a 34DDD that looks good and isn’t all grandma looking and have to pay $100 for it. It must be nice that you don’t have that issue, congratulations. I don’t even know how you’d handle it since you don’t see the difference between being offended and annoyed and you can only care about one thing at a time. That sounds crippling.

I get your point. Maybe it wasn't the original author who was actually offended, but rather constructive. Moreover, BP has now also adapted the title and it souns far less like people argued about it now. However, I still feel that criticising a lingerie line by Rihanna, which then sparks an ongoing discussion plainly absurd.
Come on, Hans, I'm prrrretty sure you do know that people can care about multiple topics! Just because this particular topic does not affect you, doesn't make it useless. And no, I'm not offended by your comment, just shaking my head because we all live in a complex and diverse world and therefore we all deal with so many layers of political implications of all sizes (pun intended) on a daily basis.
I read your response, Hans. My response to you would be that you yourself are part of the discussion now too. Despite how absurd you think it is. I agree that it’s silly to expect Rihanna to understand lingerie when she’s just a singer. But her makeup line caused a dramatic shift towards inclusiveness in the beauty industry which you know nothing about because you don’t wear makeup. Like it or not though, beauty is firmly tied to women’s issues and the fact that an average woman with a slightly substantial chest like me can’t find a bra that fits is a fucking shame and a problem. And it would be a bigger deal to you if you had to, as a man, drop upwards of $100 to get underwear or just wear underwear that you know doesn’t fit like most of us. Don’t minimalize a woman’s discussion when you aren’t even a woman and have zero clue on why it’s frustrating. Normally I love your comments, so it’s not a personal attack. I like you, but your original comment isn’t correct.
I do get you, and I thank you for being constructive. The way you put it, it makes sense. It might be yet another uproar to some, but the underlying topic is absolutely justified. And at least as an endurance enthusiast I have a basic idea about the pricing of good sport bras (despite being a guy) and that's eye-opening.
Right, because each of us gets to care about exactly one issue, and one cannot spare even a thought for anything but that one issue, which makes this a poor choice of what to care about!
If you don't have boobs you really shouldn't comment. You think that because it's about bras it is not important? If you had to wear a tight belt around your ribs everyday maybe you would be a little more concerned. And it also sounds like fat shaming, I mean big girls trying to look sexy? Big girls have been put in there place by society for years by people that sound just like you. Don't try to be the expert on how important things should be to women.
Why do people click on a post that has a title clearly explaining that it is complete nonsense, then commence to complain that the post is nonsense? Baffles me.
You're right Hans, finding the right size bra is so not an important issue, considering everything else that's going on (and I'm not being cynical).
Well to be honest, men are the ones starting and keeping up wars. Why should woman try to save them all the time. Basic facts. So maybe you just let us have our own wars. Where we are further than the male. Peace out man
First world problems
It also seems that the examples are cherry-picked - another common tactic of the perpetual offended.
I'm a big girl, with big boobs. I would rather wear the full cup over the half any day. Sexy is not in the clothes, it's how you wear them.
Agreed! I've owned a similar bra that I ended up giving away... There are no words for the horror the straps created, both visually and comfort-wise.
I totally agree with you. I am not a big girl but my boobs are really big. I would not feel comfortable wearing straps, it would not even fit properly, like I imagine my breasts coming out from in between the straps. I see nothing wrong with the lingerie showed here. I would wear it and still feel sexy.
This! I was picturing all these weird extra bulges between those three straps! And that tiny strap would dig into your shoulders.
I’m an average weight girl with big boobs and I fucking haaaate full coverage bras. You have big boobs, don’t you wear v-necks and low cut shirts? Full coverage bras are always in the way!
some might need full coverage, some might need, but does not mean that the ones that do not need full coverage must suffer. I am lucky, I fit into DDD and find some nice ones in VS (they started improving bigger sizes finally). I literally cannot wear full coverage or minimizing ones, they cut in into my chest or boobs, and I get double boobs or bulges on chest above the top line. Always.
I don't wear V-neck shirts often so it's a non-issue for *me*. Even when I do I do have various bras. So, again, non-issue.
Thanks Aunt Messy!!!! I heard about those before but forgot about them. That’s helpful, I will try Nordstrom Rack.
Try Natori bras. They're beautifully made and they're the most comfortable bras I own. They also go on sale. I usually find them at Nordstrom Rack or even Amazon. I don't particularly care if they're last year's designs. I just like good bras.
Me too! But in my country I can actually finally buy sexy, stable, comfortable lace bras. With shining stones, bows, embroidery, anything you want. I have to pay more, but I'm so used to them now, that when I look at the Rihanna's collection I can only see some bad sewn bras. The girl's boobs go to the sides and they look flat. The cup is too small, the circumference too wide. We have to know that not everything will work for big boobs, but hey, we can expect some quality!
TBH I don't care for her line. It looks cheap, but from the two I would choose the fuller.
Agree
And there you have it :D
Amen.
For each their own. I have DDD, but I do not need much support, mostly shaping and a bit lifting. I boobs shape is that all full cups cut into the top part of the boob and I and end up with doubleboob. Open balconette and similar not closed styles do work for me. So just because you feel better with fuller cup, does not mean I or something like me has to suffer (it is "fun" to find only 1 model of bra that works for you in all shop... because almost everyone believe in minimizers or full cups or similar stuff for bigger sizes)
Did I say you had to suffer? Where in what I said did I try to force it on someone else? You like your bras the way you want, fking GREAT! This is a trivial issue, and there are plenty of lingerie companies out there with cuts fitting for larger breasts.

I think both bra's look quite nice actually. And wow, very sexy underpants, for both the regular size as the plus size. Too bad Im more of a comfort type of girl ;)
Those bottoms look pretty comfortable. Depends on what they are made out of though.
Yeah, looks sexy, but I would wear it only for a short time to surprise my boyfriend. After some health issues, I threw away the thongs and now all I wear is cotton bikinis. At least I go for colorful and patterned ones.
