Thankfully, most of us can now admit that the customer isn’t always right. But that doesn’t necessarily make working with them any easier. You don’t need to have worked a single shift in retail or customer service to know that customers can be, at best, interesting—and at worst, a nightmare to keep happy. And every so often, one comes along who leaves you wondering what the heck just happened.
Those are the stories we’ve gathered here for you today: interactions that might’ve started off pretty normal and then, somewhere along the way, went entirely off the rails. They come from Not Always Right, a platform with a mission to “entertain, provide stress relief, and give a voice to everyday stories from workplaces, customer service, and beyond.” These stories range from hilarious to baffling to downright wholesome, and after reading them, you might just find yourself thinking: Yep, we hear you loud and clear.

I hate it when I encounter those people. Language is part of culture, if you are forcing someone to stop speaking a language you are stripping them of their identity
Having a boss have your back like this, is honestly wonderful. Only happened a few times in my career, but I remember each one like it was yesterday. I would take a bullet for that man, now. He's practically an adopted uncle to me.
Quick thinking, nice way of sticking to his point & not letting her hijack the convo
Men gotta stick together when the wife is preggers. It takes a village ;)
No surprised in the least lol every older person I’ve worked with or taken care of has had zero issues saying exactly what they’re thinking
lol atleast my kids don’t have access to my cards. I have three boys 🤦🏼♀️
The customer might just be a Disney princess. I am aware that it is a male customer. I still think they can be classified as a Disney Princess.
That is awesome, if true. I hope it is. What a lovely young woman she will be!
Head office thinks that assistants are there to take the money from customers. Assistants (and wise managers) know that they're there to tidy up after prats.
Sweet story, but some may feel that the caretaker was skating on the edge of a volcano with that last comment. If the caretaker was male, that is.
I work in IT, take it from me if from nobody else : idiot-proof does not exist.
Husband : "Go ahead, I'll meet you at the car." (proceeds to eat his meal, part of hers, ask for to-go box and massively over-tip the waiter)
Apparently there is a whole subgenre of extremely explict Estonian songs about eh.. adult stuff. I know, because someone sent me a spotify link to a song and that threw me into a playlist, on the lcd screen of my car, with accompaning pictures of the labels of the songs. While my sister was in the passenger seat. I still get this pang of panic when the spotify screen comes up on the monitor and Im not alone in the car.
As a 46 year old man, I can promise you there comes an age where someone actually carding you, feels like the biggest compliment you've had all year
Of all the things that didn't happen, this one didn't happen the most. The customer who grabbed the other customer in a choke hold would have had the police called on him (probably by management, who wouldn't want the liability of allowing ássault to happen in the store) and then Angry Customer would probably press charges. It sounds like a nice little mental fantasy that a cashier would have while an angry customer was yelling at them, but that's it.
I don't get it. Is OP underage? And allowed to sell alcohol, but not buy it?
As tempting as it would have been, messing with someone's food is not okay. Imagine if she was not just rude, but both rude and diabetic.
The first few were somewhat believable. The rest of them absolutely were creative writing exercises XD
