Japanese Artist Creates Incredibly Realistic Drawing Of A Squid That Looks Like A High-Resolution Photograph

Hyperrealistic art always surprises. Whether it’s a drawing, a sculpture, or a painting, it always appears so realistic to the extent that it deceives our eyes. This relatively new art movement dates back to the early ’70s and since then, it has shown us many talented artists. One of those artists is Japanese illustrator Yuki Tokuda.

Yuki Tokuda is best known on Twitter and Instagram for his original characters that have become books and merchandise, but he also creates incredibly realistic drawings. His most recent work may be the best he has created so far. Using a pen, a pencil, and a copic marker, Tokuda created a hyperrealistic drawing of a squid that looks more like a high-resolution photograph than a drawing.

Tokuda drew the squid with incredible detail. Each detail, such as tentacle curls, moisture, and an eye that looks like it’s staring directly at you, is recreated masterfully. Even though Tokuda shows the step-by-step process, it is still hard to believe that it’s a drawing and not an actual squid!
