"You made your God, now believe in it" as a potential answer for #8 made me laugh out loud. That's ACTUALLY exactly how organized religion came to be :p
I cackled. Also, you made your pool, now drown in it might be my new favorite saying.
Load More Replies...Where there's a will, there's relatives - AND a lawyer.
Load More Replies...Aaaand as usual #2 is wrong. Yes, if you have a cake you can eat it, that's how it works. The proverb is "you can't eat your cake and have it too". Since the cake will be gone once you ate it, you can't have it afterwards. For some reason everyone's always using it wrong.
I got 26/30. Did better than I thought. I heard a lot of these throughout my life. Should have got couple more right than I did.
#6, I'm not Chinese but I remember there's a very similar proverb to this that translates broadly to "speak of Cao Cao and he will appear", Cao Cao being the general who led his son Cao Pi to be able to become the original emperor of Wei in the Three Kingdoms period in around 220, and was largely seen as our equivalent of the devil due to his ruthless nature. The more you know, right? Also, I think this is the first quiz here I've actually got all right. That's due to my mother spouting these at me when I grew up. 😆
