Perhaps this is generational but, having worked for LGBTQ++ rights since the late 70's, fighting Anita Bryant, getting protections enshrined in city and state laws, Getting LGBTQ++ people elected and appointed to office, getting protections passed for those with aids/hiv (in the 80's) etc. It was difficult to get businesses to pay any attention to our existence and provide support, so I have real problems with so much hatred for companies that try to sell us stuff in June. We aren't forced to purchase anything, and they are showing bigots that they the business is NOT on their bigoted hatred filled side. There is so damn much hatred in the world, why hate those that are (while using us for profit) are actually helping to continue the "normalization" of our existence.

I am 55, old, busted up, and A sexual (I have no gender feelies and never have) I married, and divorced, but have a wonderful son. Because I was supposed to. It's the one month out of the year that LGBTQ+ people feel just a little bit safer about being their true selves. I wish PRIDE month wasn't necessary and the community can feel 100% safe being true to themselves without consequences, but that's our unfortunate reality. Feeling safe is priceless and I'm glad we have at least this much. We still have a long way to go, but we are getting there. Don't Ask Don't Tell doesn't exist anymore, that means my bi cousin in the army can feel safe and keep her job. She's been in for 20+ years and married her wife shortly after DADT was voted out.

I don't get it. I've been friends with a gay guy since we were kids. I been friends with a lesbian since 1996. I have a gay niece, and a gay nephew inlaw. I've never looked at them any different than I do anyone else. I know some people don't like them for being gay, but why do they care who they sleep with? It doesn't affect them one way or the other. I don't get it.

Can anyone please help me with understanding how pronouns such as xe/xey work? Usually when people list their pronouns as she/her or they/them then I kind of understand but when it comes to neopronouns I get a bit confused. Can anyone make me understand how to use them in a sentence?

Basically whatever the first pronoun is (ex: "xe") replaces the first pronoun of one of the sets you're used to using (ex: "she"), replace the second with the second, etc. so If you wanted to say the sentence "She went to the store to get herself and her partner milk" you'd say "Xe went to the store to get xeself and xeys partner milk" (this may not be exactly accurate since I've never heard of xe/xey before but I tried to use your example of neos) and if you're ever unsure, most people who use them will be happy to help you understand if you ask respectfully!! Hope this helps :)

I think PM is one of the most offending things society has ever produced. Right there with BLM. We live in 2022 and still need things like these to remember us bit everybody I the same yet needs the same rights. We still need people to rub utboutvface that those who are different from the "majority" of society are often denied equality and fairness. We still need a good kick to remember that people are exluded because of who thy are. So iety has barely moved, and that is embarrassing. I do not believe in societies ability to develop anymore, and that really makes me angry.

“Advertising” differences as you call it is a reaction to the way LGBTQ+ people had to live for years, for fear of losing their jobs or being kicked out of their housing, for fear anyone might find out that they’re gay. Being able to “advertise” without losing employment, or being evicted, or having their children taken from them, is a seismic societal shift that wasn’t possible for so many people even a generation ago and in some places is still not possible.
