I’m Honestly Fed Up With All The Bad News, So I Illustrated 15 Of The Best Ones About The Coronavirus Situation
Positive news has the ability to strengthen our hope, and that's what I want to achieve with this collection; to offer help and support to everyone who is fighting the coronavirus in every sense of the word.
We are in this together and we will get through this together.
Some time ago, I created The Happy Broadcast as a counter to all the hate and fear that swirl around the world. Since then, I've been illustrating positive, anxiety-free news which I see as an antidote to the doom and gloom we see and hear in the media.
The Happy Broadcast is a form of celebration, showing that we can all make a positive impact. So, given the difficult circumstances we're all facing, here's a series, dedicated exclusively to the pandemic.

Well, you know what to do then; Get them out of that friggin Zoo! All the visiting monkeys clearly bother these animals.
Same thing happened with the pandas at Adelaide Zoo in South Australia. 10 yrs of nothing then it happened during lock down :)
Same thing (unconfirmed still but likely) in the Netherlands! That's a pattern emerging!
Load More Replies...I think that if being around too many people is stressing them out, there should be a limit to how many people can come onto the zoo at one time. Or they should convert it into a safari park, so the animals have more room and privacy, and it's similar to their natural habitat
Coronavirus has the world on edge as the outbreak is now a global pandemic. While some people may be more susceptible to becoming ill with the coronavirus than others, none of us are immune to the pervading sense of anxiety that has taken hold of the world.
So I decided to use my good news platform, The Happy Broadcast, to focus on stories about people uniting in friendship and solidarity or climate/animal-related news to keep things in perspective. It’s a stressful period but we can take a second, breathe deep and look at some of the positive things going on.
Well, it's nice to sea that in this lockdown some creatures are coming out of their shells.
My mission of helping people's mental health through sharing happy and positive news is more important than ever so I’ve dedicated most of my time to this. I’m in my seventh week of quarantine in Los Angeles myself, keeping in touch with my family in Italy.
Hey keyboard warriors, unless you are a Chinese or an expert on Chinese culture please don't make bold statements like "it's too ingrained in the culture." That is offensive to the majority of Chinese, like myself, who have known no such a thing as dog eating culture. It is as generalizing and as ridiculously wrong as saying white people are all narcissistic white supremacists because it is "in their culture" - see how wrong that sounds? Thanks.
I lived the first 5 years of my life there. there is NOT many dog-cat factories, whatever you can call them. They are not common and many government facilities have tried to put a stop to them!!! Just the thought of eating cats and dogs can make someone vegan. It's NOT good. eat healthy. not eat adorable things.
Load More Replies...I certainly don't like the practice, but we eat rabbits, pigs etc. that some people keep as pets..goats, sheep..why do we impose a say on what another culture deems food,?J? What is the criterion? J ust because they are cute and can be domesticated. Hopefully they were never badly treated,. Cows are beautiful and can be "friendly" but most of us have enjoyed a burger.
I'm with Mya here. The problem to me is how they are treated in life and up to death. The real issue to me is how sad it is to have so many stray cats and dogs that suffer in kennels and outside. Honestly I know for sure that in the extreme that this country was short on meat... Most people would not complain to get some and not ask questions!
Load More Replies...The only difference between eating a dog and eating a pig is your perception. All animals want to live.
Eh nope, the human/dog partnership goes back more than 15 000 years, we as humans have bred dogs to help us with work be it herding, shepherding, rescuing etc in turn for our friendship and protection. Breaking this bond or partnership by seeing them as food is a literal betrayal to this this bond that is now so ingrained in every dog...not so much pigs, or cows, sorry.
Load More Replies...Disgusted that this is even a topic to discuss!! Humans truly are a plague!! :(
It's sad to see that only now and only one city in the entire China finally put a law to stop this nonsense.. Now, it will take 20 years to enforce it and another 20 years to get all cities in China to follow.
I remember going to school to hear my best friend (Mum from Korea, Dad from China) being told made fun of by a girl because "her family packed her dog for lunch". No one talked to her except me and her other real friends. (This girl was so dumb her mum packed her fish and kimchi! How does Kimchi and Fish look like a DOG?!)
Don't believe this f****d up country. While this is nice and all it will never happen. This president and it's cops are so f*****g corrupt it's not even funny. All they give a s**t about is money. There are NO animal rights laws in this country. If they want to do something make it a law and ban the consumption of companion animals and all wildlife! And enforce the f*****g thing! I feel for those animal activists who live in this country and are trying to help those with no voice. There are many good people who live in this country and I hope like hell they win over the abusive a******s. The cruelty in this country is worse than any other.
Fake news and misinformation are in vogue more than ever and misleading clues, ranging from unscientific health advice to inaccurate figures about the victims of the disease have made their way to the pages of newspapers and news websites and airwaves of TV and radio stations. Very seldom is positive news shared by major broadcasting companies but I’ve also seen the birth of many social outlets focused on highlighting the positive stories of the people in lockdown.
There’s a thin line between being aware and living in constant fear and anxiety. You don't have to be constantly seeking information. Get the facts, not the rumors and listen to public health experts who can help navigate the path ahead. For that reason, I just launched a newsletter full of optimism and unbiased fact-checked stories.
Actually it is not to fund the NHS but for a charity that supports NHS workers and patients who need help.
Actually it is more than £28,000,000 not dollars, in dollars that is about $34,000,000. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tomswalkforthenhs
It's £28.6m and with gift aid of over £54m it adds up to £34m. His 100th birthday is on 30th April - I for one will be singing happy birthday to him on that day!
Load More Replies...Actually, as of this morning he's raised £28m which is around 34m US dollars!
Including tax refunds against the donations and conversion at the current GBP/USD rate, Capt Moore has raised over $42,600,000. Remarkable.
Great!! Let's hope we can learn and continue some of these practices with out a global pandemic acting as a motivation.
This is great and a nice feel good story, but it doesn't mean a thing if we can't get a handle on Global Warming! Coral is bleaching at a record rate because of the rise in ocean temperature of just over 1 degree and if it hits a sustained 2 degrees, you can say goodbye to ALL ocean coral reefs and the life they support! Surely if we can get together because of a virus pandemic, we can also do it to save our entire Planet as we know it!!
Maybe this comparison is flawed but I still gotta make it: how is it that a lot of big a*s companies can switch to making medical gear- something that is way off their expertise- in a matter of weeks but say they can't switch to environmental friendly production- just changing the way they do things- cause it's so sooooo hard to do?! (Dunno if LEGO is one of those, this just made me think of this)
As 3D printers have demonstrated, you can change the shape of plastic products with a few lines of code. Changing an entire industry from base concept, through R&D, raw material harvesting, new process, all new factory infrastructure and safety testing, is not the same thing at all. I am not saying that many industries couldn't make more changes than they have but the current situation is not indicative of it being a piece of cake.
Load More Replies...Well done Lego and all the others that are making equipment to help
Great news, there are some companies, those who are able to help, thanks !!!
And that kids shouldn't worry because they were immune. I though it was the cutest thing ever :).
Load More Replies...Meanwhile in America, the President told his citizens to try injecting themselves with disinfectant. I wish my country's leader gave reassurance about wholesome things like this.
Fingers crossed that all his die-hard supporters give it a try

This is a good read, ending with some simple, yet probably extremely important words; "since the very best leaders are both strong and decisive and capable of displaying feeling, women could, perhaps, “lead the way in showing that these are not competing and conflicting attributes, but complementary – and necessary for good leadership" https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/25/why-do-female-leaders-seem-to-be-more-successful-at-managing-the-coronavirus-crisis
This is the kind of leadership we need. People who care about the children. People who care about the happiness of our communities as well as the country's well-being. The New Zealand Prime Minister, the Prime Minister or Quebec, and the leader of Western Australia have all issued statements like this. These are the passionate leaders we need in this pandemic.
Sorry, no. We have our own nutbars without adding millions more.
Load More Replies...I doubt this to have any lasting effect. A drop for a few months and not a permanent change in how we use the planet almost meaningless for the climate.
Yeah, but the wider public is now cottoning on to what the world would look like if their elected officials would actually listen to those pesky scientists. Thousands if not millions of people are now being exposed to the wonders of clean water, air, are hearing and seeing animals they've never noticed before or even have not been exposed to. If we can finally hammer home the importance of conservation, we can hope for meaningful change.
Load More Replies...If only people would learn from this... no, everyone in the family does not need their own car... get down to one or none...
An opportunity to document a hard correlation (if not cause/effect) between human activity, CO2 levels, pollution and climate change.
Likely, what isn't burned now will be burned upon the regular in the first few months after lockdown ended. But ... as climate change is far bigger of an issue than Corona is, and we see the horrors of well-developed societies unable to even react properly, let alone any further, this might serve to remind us about how much we're putting on the line constantly, smarting off people with solutions different than the chosen ones that always ... require buying new things. Climate neutral substitution for fossile fuels for example is a huge potential that merely lays untouched and unvalued and therefore keeps undone, while some expectancy about electric vehicles is seen als solution, although it is both too slow and too fast at the same time. But ... seeing how well home-office can work, it may allow to reevaluate being in the office every day, therefore may massively reduce traffic, at least in some areas...
How long after everything is up and running will it take to reach epic proportions and kill the animals that have not missed us at all. Maybe this whole thing was to give Mother Nature a chance to clean up our messes. We never seem to do it, leaving our trash and c**p in the air.
it's sad that it almost has been a couple decades that this had happened again. First a WAR, and now a VIRUS. to what length do we need to stop global warming?
How about we just celebrate this big win for Mother Earth. I want to know what the plans are for CONTINUING as much reduction in CO2 as possible when the Covid-19 mess is over. The time to plan continued relief for the planet is NOW!
Load More Replies...That's my fear as well, what will happen after? Will they still have a home?
Load More Replies...I don't people realize the work to keep a dog. You can't have a working dog and expect it to stay home for 10-12 hours. This is why people come home to eaten sofas. Please, please...exercise your dogs.
At first I thought it said that people were turning INTO dogs, cats, and chickens.
In South Africa, sadly that is not the case. A lot of people took their animal to the shelters in fear of getting the virus from them and no animal adoptions are allowed since home inspections are not allowed.
my uncle posted an ad for kittens on social media and got over 80 messages in one hour. people are in need of friends during self isolation.
I hope the people getting the pets will treat them well. An animal is not an impulse-buy. Unless maybe it's dinner. (Like roast chicken.)
The pandemic is temporary an animal is for life. I hope people remember that
They went empty because they werent allowed to be open so they sent all their animals to foster organizations.
I'm a little worried about the nurses and doctors who are coming out of retirement. A lot of them will be elderly and at higher risk of death from coronavirus. Stay at home everyone!
In many countries they are not in contact with the infected, but doing "support tasks", such as answering the emergency phones, laboratory, or organisation. At least here in Spain, many are working in the 061 emergency phone. Just as well, because we have the highest number of infected health workers in the world.
Load More Replies...I would not say this is good news. These doctors and nurses are most likely at major risk for catching the virus.
They are called, whether they are high risk themselves. Medical workers aren't paid enough to be this selfless, well, except for doctors in private, profit-driven medical facilities. At least 150 doctors have died in Italy.
I retired at 75 which I think makes me a little old to go back but I would have 5 years age. Educate yourselves about the "elderly". When does that even start.
Tragically, some of these heroes have died because of the dreadfully poor distribution of PPE.
I too pray for their lives and I pray their efforts for others is truly a blessing for them!
In the UK there has been an issue recruiting nurses and doctors for a long time... leads to this kind of thing being necessary. But I still respect those who choose to 'come out of retirement' to help others.
Its great that they are willing to risk their lives and put their knowledge to use to help others.
They were really needed because as a nurse and a doctor who assist in one patient with covid, they shouldn't attend to other patients, they were on quarantine also, hence the scarcity of nurses and doctors to attend to other patients without the virus.
One house on my street has rainbows in the windows and also did the clap for the NHS. Sounds nice, doesn't it? You might change your mind when I tell you they have had non-stop visitors during lockdown, grandparents included. It's a whole new level of ignorance.
Just like how this will eventually come to pass. Even if it passes like a kidney stone, it will eventually pass.
I have seen it on many windows in Germany. Always makes me smile
i hope that they do the same with climate change when this all brushes over, and show that climate change isn't some "democratic lie to get them to win the presidential race"
Now if that would only happen with cancer and the info not be suppressed. But, it's not contagious and makes too many people too much money.
This is what we are all setting our hopes for. Even (secretly) the malevolent bastards who are spreading fake info whether for their own sick pleasure or in orchestrated attempts at societal destabilization. Effective medicines and ultimately an effective vaccine is what we are waiting for to return to life as we knew it.
well i would not say that testing and stay at home cured them hahaha rather their immune system
How did testing and stay-at-home measures cause these people to recover? I mean, stay-at-home measures can ensure that people can get the care they need (rather than being turned away at the hospital doors), but how does testing contribute to recovery?
Does not make sense, staying at home and testing does nothing to treat the virus.
Not sure what testing and stay-at-home measures has to do with recovery- contact tracing and testing won't change the individual outcome of an infection. They may have recovered from other medical care, mind, but at the point the test was taken, either you have it or you don't.
Except for the nincompoops protesting shelter-in-place. It's not oppression, you picklebrains - it's inconvenience, and the purpose is to save lives. Put on your big kid pants and deal with it.
If they do not want to shelter, all they have to do is to either get a job as an essential worker or to volunteer at a hospital or a nursing home!
Load More Replies...That depends where you live and whether or not you are classified as 'vulnerable'. The vulnerable need to 'shield' which is a zero human contact option and never leaving the house. The closure of all public venues and bans on car travel make life far from normal for everyone though.
Load More Replies...It says "We are in this together and we will get through this, together"

People have to stay home from work to stop the spread of the virus, yet people are running out of money because they can’t work. Maybe we should re-examine our economic model and think of a better one that is not focus on profit and will help us when we need it.
Who is "us" in this? Many countries pay unemployment benefits to out-of-work workers and issue special corona-related payments too.
Load More Replies...So don't drink the Lysol yet. Or inject any bleach. Maybe that Asteroid heading our way will hit our own Dr. Mengele before he starts any more experimenting on us, his endless supply of lab rats.
Not the right time to joke at all for those who have fallen for that weak excuse.
Load More Replies...I wonder how many animals will be off the endangered species list after this
I am a superhero! Ha! It feels pretty good to say that. But the REAL superheroes are working in the hospitals, in almost every hospital on the planet. Let us make sure that the nursing professionals also get to get paid well enough for the important work they do. No amount of praise pays any bills whatsoever, money does.
Glad to see so many good stories coming out of this Pandemic, we need more.
For a story that was supposed to be upbeat and positive, there sure are a lot of negative comments. Can you not find anything positive to say you Debbie Downers?
@Peter Bear, I was ready to up-vote your comment - until I got to the last few words, that is. When you resort to name-calling that automatically voids all of the rest of your comment of any meaningfulness.
