I’m Honestly Fed Up With All The Bad News, So I Illustrated 15 Of The Best Ones About The Coronavirus Situation
150Kviews
Positive news has the ability to strengthen our hope, and that's what I want to achieve with this collection; to offer help and support to everyone who is fighting the coronavirus in every sense of the word.
We are in this together and we will get through this together.
Some time ago, I created The Happy Broadcast as a counter to all the hate and fear that swirl around the world. Since then, I've been illustrating positive, anxiety-free news which I see as an antidote to the doom and gloom we see and hear in the media.
The Happy Broadcast is a form of celebration, showing that we can all make a positive impact. So, given the difficult circumstances we're all facing, here's a series, dedicated exclusively to the pandemic.

Coronavirus has the world on edge as the outbreak is now a global pandemic. While some people may be more susceptible to becoming ill with the coronavirus than others, none of us are immune to the pervading sense of anxiety that has taken hold of the world.
So I decided to use my good news platform, The Happy Broadcast, to focus on stories about people uniting in friendship and solidarity or climate/animal-related news to keep things in perspective. It’s a stressful period but we can take a second, breathe deep and look at some of the positive things going on.
My mission of helping people's mental health through sharing happy and positive news is more important than ever so I’ve dedicated most of my time to this. I’m in my seventh week of quarantine in Los Angeles myself, keeping in touch with my family in Italy.
Hey keyboard warriors, unless you are a Chinese or an expert on Chinese culture please don't make bold statements like "it's too ingrained in the culture." That is offensive to the majority of Chinese, like myself, who have known no such a thing as dog eating culture. It is as generalizing and as ridiculously wrong as saying white people are all narcissistic white supremacists because it is "in their culture" - see how wrong that sounds? Thanks.
Fake news and misinformation are in vogue more than ever and misleading clues, ranging from unscientific health advice to inaccurate figures about the victims of the disease have made their way to the pages of newspapers and news websites and airwaves of TV and radio stations. Very seldom is positive news shared by major broadcasting companies but I’ve also seen the birth of many social outlets focused on highlighting the positive stories of the people in lockdown.
There’s a thin line between being aware and living in constant fear and anxiety. You don't have to be constantly seeking information. Get the facts, not the rumors and listen to public health experts who can help navigate the path ahead. For that reason, I just launched a newsletter full of optimism and unbiased fact-checked stories.
I'm a little worried about the nurses and doctors who are coming out of retirement. A lot of them will be elderly and at higher risk of death from coronavirus. Stay at home everyone!

People have to stay home from work to stop the spread of the virus, yet people are running out of money because they can’t work. Maybe we should re-examine our economic model and think of a better one that is not focus on profit and will help us when we need it.
Who is "us" in this? Many countries pay unemployment benefits to out-of-work workers and issue special corona-related payments too.
America is a part of the 'us'. Our government kinda sucks right now, especially with the hairy cheeto ruling over it. A lot of people here are not able to get unemployment benefits, or their calls end up on hold for 4 hours. And if they are, then it might take a bit.
It is not only workers who are incomeless. The self-employed are in deep trouble all over the globe now as are almost all small business owners. No matter how good the system is, I believe that there is not a single country that will go on as though nothing happened after this. There are so many lessons we need to learn.
A large number of countries have millions of casual labourers who feed their families through daily wages earned doing informal random labour work. Nearly 81 percent of working people are employed in informal sector in india and fall out of any labour laws. These people and their families are out of work for about a month now and their meagre wages mean they hav nothing to fall back on these unemployed times. Results soon coming will include debt induced bonded labour for local financiers, labour trafficking and stravation.
It seems much worse in America for this than anywhere else. In Canada here we applied and were given $2000 a month immediately (I applied Apr 6 and it was already in my bank account Apr 8) and that will carry on for several months if needed. I feel bad for those in America that have applied a month ago and still waiting for a 1-time payment. No wonder people want to get back to work so quick, the government doesn't give a s**t about the citizens.
Which country are we talking about here? America?
In my opinion the best model is called Universal Basic Income. Before Covid it was still better, now it's critical. If you replace Welfare with UBI then people won't be afraid to get jobs (you lose welfare if you have a job, and oftentimes gas + childcare costs + loss of welfare makes you worse off with a job than without). And if you can't work e.g. because of medical reasons - or Covid - you won't die. As more and more jobs become automated and there simply aren't enough jobs for everyone, UBI has become more and more important. I hope that Covid can kick governments in the butt so they will start UBI programs.

This economic model one: has almost eliminated worldwide extreme poverty at a rate that blew away the UN's best hopes, and two: if nobody works then who will pay for all that you need? Will you do it for free and give it away? Didn't think so.
So don't drink the Lysol yet. Or inject any bleach. Maybe that Asteroid heading our way will hit our own Dr. Mengele before he starts any more experimenting on us, his endless supply of lab rats.
Not the right time to joke at all for those who have fallen for that weak excuse.
Trump trolls 'you guys' and people think that's okay? A briefing is not the time for a joke - or for Trump to 'think aloud' when that kind of thing is the result.
What is it going to take to stop Trump from adding to this very bad joke of him playing president and allowing more to die, those who have joined his cult followers that would do anything for this man. Have we learned nothing from all the innocents in Jonestown, David Koresh and every other leaders who people listen to because they have been lied to for so long from politician after politician who promises the moon and can't deliver anything. And the oath taken with crossed fingers. We need a hero. And we have to choose the lesser if two evils every election. Trump got in because too many thought he didn't stand a chance and so they did nothing. He uses and abuses the very people that disagree with him. He had made himself above the law, he has elevated himself to the level of God. He plays doctor, he has made horrible remarks to press, scientists and he has watched as people die and whines about not getting the appreciation he thinks we owe him. How many is too many in terms of deathf

Trump trolls you guys and you keep falling for it. I laughed my a*s off when he said to inject disinfectant. If you can't tell that's a joke, then I don't know what to say.
Even if that was the case, what business does the POTUS have 'trolling' people at a press conference about a virus pandemic?
Yeah, yeah - Trump is trying hard to spin that angle as well! Though he still changed his mind part way as he's convinced by his own 'brilliance'. No way was he joking.
Thanks for sharing these stories, good news is a nice break
