All of us have tried popping popcorn, but have you actually seen how it happens? This burning question led Warped Perception to capture the process 1,250 times slower than real time. They now claim to have the slowest video footage of popping popcorn on YouTube and it’s absolutely hypnotizing.

They used a Phantom v2512 Ultra High Speed Camera and were able to film everything at 30,000 FPS. “I believe that slow motion and ultra slow motion videos give us a look into a world which we normally cannot see but we know it exists,” Warped Perception’s Matt Mikka told Mashable. “It extends the ability of the human eye and human perception in a sense.” Even at these insane speeds the popcorn popped pretty fast, so this shows just how rapid the process actually is.
