Time is not just relative, it gives a whole new perspective of things that wasn't there. Think of it as an ultimate test to determine whether stuff is legit or not. And while some things remain unchanged, like the world still hailing Keanu Reeves, others turn sour, like an acidic vinegar you’d never, ever dare to call wine.

This phenomenon is known as poorly aged things, which means they not only didn’t get better over time, they got way worse to the point of passing cringe or meeting regrets. So in order to see some of the best of the worst real-life examples, we took a visit to the “Poorly Aged Things” Twitter account that does precisely what it says: “showcases poorly-aged things and blinx.”

With 719.9K followers and counting, it offers some of the most remarkable examples of feeling remorse over something you were honestly proud of before. How did this 180° change happen? I told you, it’s all time’s fault.

Part of the beauty (and the horror!) of the world we live in is that things are for the most part unforeseeable. I mean, nobody would have believed you if, back in 2018, you told us there was the greatest pandemic in modern history right around the corner that would forever change our lives as we were used to. But on 31 December 2019 (it’s hard to believe it was two years ago!) the coronavirus was first reported from Wuhan, China, from which it rapidly spread around the globe.

But what if we could have known it prior to the outbreak actually happening? Could we have changed the debilitating course of events that followed? The question may never have answers, but we can have a look at what it takes to make predictions about the future, and how accurate they actually are.

He worked for justice in Africa, was a field doctor during a war, got some falsely accused poop!e exonerated ( saving them from death penalty) and was knighted for his services. If you've never heard of superforecasting, it’s the practice of prediction that covers everything from whether a currency will become stronger, one country will invade another, or there will be civil unrest in a city. Superforecasters calculate the probability of something happening and then adjust that as circumstances change. In this way, they’re able to come up with consistent predictions.

But it’s much more complex than that. According to Bloomberg, superforecasters did not accurately predict Brexit, putting the chances of a Leave vote at 23% in June 2016—the month of the referendum. Their predicted figure had been higher a few months previously but they had adjusted the likelihood downwards, reports the BBC.

The article was dated 6 Dec 2000. By that time internet was already in full swing. Granted most people were using dial-up modems. But the sentiments, even back then was this is the way forward. This is how the future is going to look like. Had that article been published 5 years earlier (circa 1995), it may have been more believable. World wide web was just gaining traction. Many people were still in the learning stage back then.

When Netflix started losing money in their early days, the two owners made several offers to sell out to Blockbuster for $50 million in 2000. Blockbuster passed because they didn’t want to buy a company that was hemorrhaging red ink. The rest is history, and Netflix is now worth over $230 billion. Ironically, 20 years later Netflix has released a documentary titled “The Last Blockbuster” about the one remaining store in Bend, Oregon and how it all fell apart.

I actually miss going to Blockbuster, we had the best 2 clerks who worked there, probably 18 or 19 and they recommend the best movies, movies I never would have tried on my own. They recommended Requiem for a Dream and Pi, both excellent. I got them to try a couple of British movies that they ended up liking. Plus how much fun was it for kids, on a Friday night, picking out a movie to watch at a sleepover?

Netflix was a mail order dvd service that was not streaming service that we know today. One would have to send back the picked movies that you rented through the mail.

Being a superforecaster entails one quintessential personality trait, which is superior analytic ability. Philip Tetlock, the Leonore Annenberg University Professor in Democracy and Citizenship at the University of Pennsylvania, identified many people who could be turned into “superforecasters”—people whose analytic ability is considerably better than random people (or who, in financial analyst terms, “beat the market”).

It doesn’t mean trusting your gut is all there is, since analysts have to do many other things besides just forecast, but it surely helps, Philip argues. Other personality traits for a superforecaster include being intelligent, playing games and solving puzzles, being able to pragmatically use other people’s ideas, and being open-minded to new data which shows up.

The US was very well prepared. The Obama administration left an entire playbook with steps on how to respond, and there were early warning systems set up across Asia. The T***p administration cancelled it all. Plus Jared Effing Kushner was put in charge of supply chain administration and literally had interns with Gmail accounts trying to contact firms in China to source PPE. All of them should be investigated and, depending on the evidence gathered, charged with manslaughter or negligent homicide.

All of this right here. There were plans. There were smart people who, if followed, we could have less than half the deaths we have today. Our leaders didn't follow the preparation.

An when you put it like that, it really does make sense. Having a plan and following through on the plan are two different things. You have to be willing to make the unpopular decisions for long-term benefit - allow the economy to take a major hit in favor of avoiding an even bigger hit later on. And you've got to be willing to make reasonable but maybe not ideal decisions fast rather than discuss the perfect solution for ages. If you can't do those things you're screwed, no matter how "prepared" you are.

Yea, we (The Netherlands) did terrible, because our prime minister and his "crew" are a bunch of degenerates and waited months to do anything at all and close to a year before they took proper measures. God how I hate that guy. Hated him with a passion for many years and now he's proven me right (again). He's a douchenozzle, doesn't know jack s**t and doesn't care about anyone but himself

Divorce doesn't mean they no longer want to be friends. From what I know of them I can see them staying friends. But after 25 years perhaps they weren't giving each other what they needed in a husband/wife. So they are divorcing to open the doors to new relationships. Not to close the door on their friendship.

When they made Iron Man, everything was riding on its success. If it had flopped, Marvel would have been forced to sell the rights to all their characters or go bankrupt. Luckily for them, Iron Man did not flop. Another little factoid that I read the other day is that the highest paid actor in the first Iron Man movie was Terrence Howard, who played Rhodey. For undisclosed reasons, he was replaced by Don Cheadle after the first movie.

Sad story. When I heard Marvel was making Spiderman I bought 200 shares of Marvel stock at $7. Sold them around $12 after the movie. When I looked a few years ago after splits and Disney buying them and more splits. If I'd had HODL'd they'd be worth over $50K now. Ouch.

What a shitty superlative; who decided that should be on the vote? "OK, kids, vote for the person you think will fail at everything they try? We'll go ahead and let them know what everyone thinks and brand it on the yearbook for posterity. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll just kill themselves in shame. Vote! It'll be fun!"

I believe less people died from Camels which has more tobacco but less chemicals. Chemicals cause cancer more than tobacco. All the modern ciggies are loaded with chemicals so they can patent their brand. I know 6 Camel smokers that died in their late 80's and 90's. I have never smoked - THANK GOD.

Classic advertising trick. Suppose 1% of doctors smoke. Then you conduct a nationwide survey and stop as soon as you have at least one more count for Camels. Then you can run this ad and claim it's all true.

Pretty much everything is made in China these days, or at the very least, some component of everything. China produces both excellent and terrible quality products and sells to an ever hungry international market. If you get the cheap nasty stuff, you probably (like me), live in a country with very low standard inspections for imports.

Elon Musk wanted to re-open his factories despite a lock down. If that isn't admitting that you value your profit more than the lives of your employees, I don't know what is. Perhaps massacring them when they want a raise.

It was stopped from tilting in 2014. The engineers strengthened the base. The tower is located on marshy soil. They poured reinforced concrete at the base. Went there in 2016. The guide said it wont tilt anymore. So yes, without the modern engineering it would have indeed toppled.

Gee, Fus, thanks for sharing your conservative written "OPINION"! I read it and it was suspiciously absent of any of the facts. Did democrats murder police? Did they show up armed to the teeth? Did they destroy property or steal anything? Was it because they were upset about a fair and legitimate election? Were they trying to overthrow the federal government and force their candidate into another term illegally? The answer to all these is no.

I really don't care if I get down voted, but I know I will. Jk Rowling is not transphobic. I've seen her tweets. I'm not saying that all trans people are like this, and most trans people are wonderful and inspiring people. Sometimes, but very, very rarely men say that they are woman to get into woman's mental hospitals and refugee camps and do horrible things to them. I'm a massive supporter of trans people, but I believe that Jk Rowling is not homophobic. Down vote me because I don't care. Have an amazing day to whoever is reading this 🤩

Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Cis women have different life experiences to trans women and vice versa. Trans men have different life experiences to cis men and vice versa. And that's OK, because people's life journeys are different. No one's experience is more "valid" or "authentic" than anyone else's. There is no gatekeeper of "womanhood" or "manhood". I don't understand why this has to be a fight. Let love rule.

She makes a few comments about a controversial topic, and suddenly, everyone goes berserk. I will not say whether I support trans or not, because that is not the point. People are mad at her for expressing an opinion, and they always will be because people are always desperate for a reason for anger, drama, and pettiness. However, refusing to read a book because the author has different views is foolish. The books are great, whether the author is popular or not. We can't just cancel culture because we don't like it.

We can, because we can all choose which values are important to us. For some it's not a big deal, but for others it's a dealbreaker, and they have the right to their feelings - and subsequent actions. I'm in my 30s so I don't particularly care about Harry Potter anymore, but I've stopped watching things with known sexual predators on cast because I don't feel comfortable. I can't get immersed and I don't take any joy from it anymore - so why should I keep watching? Because I would be called "foolish" otherwise?

But as soon as she started protecting women from men-who-think-are-women she's bad. "ALCOHOL ISN'T A DRUG! IT'S LEGAL!" shouts hundreds of morons as they cling to their bottles of beer and cheap wine, ready to jump into their cars and get into a pointless street race cause YOLO.

So much of the damage done to the US started with this man. He had the veneer of jocularity and didn't seem as dangerous as he ended up being.

I don't get the love for Reagan -- he really put America on this track to hyper-capitalistic dystopia. Destroyed the mental health system, gave the country away to corporations, took down other democracies, the list goes on. Of course he is largely seen as just a puppet figurehead of the Republican Party, but was happily complicit with it all.

Now to be fair he used the word 'today'. So it's possible that, on the day that he said it, there may not have been any other drugs, of any kind, in the country at all! Meaning he was correct.

Honestly i expected way more form CD Project red, I played it on pc so graphic wise it was stunning, But the storytelling was way below par, In the Witcher 3 you have so many small things that can go differently depending on the choices you make, And Cyberpunk just totally threw that out of the window, And the quest themselves felt unfinished, I had really high hopes for Project red but with Cyberpunk it completely went down the drain

A three second google search... Speaking of Butch Hartman trending, that brings us to today and the accusations of plagiarism. While the jury seems to be out on whether Hartman has committed textbook plagiarism – as in shamelessly tracing over someone else’s art – or just copied art without tracing, it still looks bad. Butch Hartman was commissioned to draw Mikasa Akerman (from Attack on Titan) and delivered a piece that looked a lot like fanart from a Japanese artist known as @028ton on Twitter. Fans reached out to the original artist and tattled. Told ya, the internet won’t let you get away with anything. Didn’t take long for @028ton to condemn Hartman’s actions. Ouch. While Butch Hartman has remained silent about the latest controversy, the fact remains that his star is on the decline. His once prosperous YouTube channel has been losing subscribers and his most recent uploads barely break 10,000 views. Sure, that’s still a lot of eyeballs, but it’s also a paltry number when compa

I mean, the sentiment's not wrong, but I guess there's more to it than I know?

FYI Sonic had a tough time of it and fell into alcohol and drug abuse. He was also seen flytipping at a beauty spot near his home. All of this following the untimely death of Tails, his foxy sidekick, who met his end while performing stunts on a tandem that wasn't built for foxes. Sadly, Sonic never recovered and was last seen living in a trailer park outside Detroit. You're welcome.

The video is titled "How is Twitter free?" & Twitter isn't completely free anymore. There's the option of locking tweets behind a paywall.

I don't get this one either. She's the girl from iCarly, also played one of the kids in School of Rock... no idea why feet should be a thing (maybe I don't want to know)

Turns out Pog Champ believes Trump won the 2020 election and supported the Jan 6 insurgency, thus has been cancelled as a Twitch emoji. Future Poggers emoji will use a different face to make a new Pog Champ.

From Wikipedia: Some Twitch users in 2020 petitioned for Twitch to remove Ryan Gutierrez as the face of the PogChamp emote, following numerous claims of Gutierrez promoting far-right conspiracies, such as anti-vaccination conspiracies,[17] and spreading misinformation and denial of COVID-19. On January 6, 2021, Twitch announced that they were to remove the original PogChamp emote following comments from Gutierrez on his Twitter page supporting civil unrest for the death of a protestor during the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PogChamp
