People Are Freaking Out About This Japanese Woman Walking In Pigeon Shoes
Japanese shoemaker Kyoto Ohata has created a hilarious pair of pigeon-themed high heels and everyone is freaking out. Some people hate it, others love it but probably only a few know that actually these shoes serve a very specific purpose.
Ohata often walks through an area that’s filled with pigeons and the birds scatter in fear when she strolls down the pavement. So, not to scare the pigeons, she decided to disguise her human presence with a pair of DIY shoes that look just like the pigeons themselves!

Haha, okay kind of goofy. But looking at some of the photos, they like they are made from felt and possibly felted on her own. If this girl doesn't do cosplay, she should cuz she could probably create some pretty high quality costumes and/or props!

Firstly, here's the original source: http://portal.nifty.com/kiji/170523199689_1.htm And the video she's walking around with them https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=17&v=E5FgQQVoO40 The creator's name is Keiko Ohata. (Kyoto is a Japanese city.) She decided to create pigeons shoes out of fun/pun -- in Japanese, high heels are ハイヒール while "pigeon heels" would be ハトヒール. ハイヒール and ハトヒール look similar. The source website "Daily Portal Z" is a bit like buzzfeed -- writers do wacky things like creating weird stuff and write about their weird experiences. Her article ends with this: "I couldn't attract pigeons, I'm kinda happy to attract so many people in Ueno Park."

Hate pigeons in the cities, they're everywher. However these are fun, and a lot of work gone into creating them. Think I'll stick to my usual foot wear ;-)

Pigeons are basically urban rats. Who cares if they get "scared"? I'm not saying to go out of the way to harm them, but these things are ridiculous.

Be kind to animals. When people laugh and are amused that you are walking around inside of a pigeon, to me it shows their ignorance and insensitivity. This shoe art suggests that we can use animals anyway we please.
