This little spider might be the inspiration behind the famous animated character Pikachu.

Micrathena Sagittata, also known as the arrow-shaped Micrathena, is a unique-looking spider with a distinctive arrow-shaped abdomen. It is mainly bright yellow, with black lengthenings at the end and sometimes with red and black patterning.

This beautiful creature fascinated National Geographic explorer Jonathan Kolby, who came across the specimen while conducting research in the jungles of Honduras.

It was the first time he saw Micrathena Sagittata so he was quick to document the unique beauty of the spider.
