Raise your hand, Pandas who still have a notebook! (A handful of hands slowly come up.) Now, raise your hand if you write in that notebook! While we listen to the humming silence, I have to admit that in the past week, I scribbled out a single post-it note with my groceries list. The fact is obvious: typing has pretty much replaced the good, old and beautiful art of handwriting. (I am not looking at you, doctors!)
Cursive writing has become a skill on its own. Some states, such as Indiana, have decided to go on teaching it in school. Others claim that cursive should be cherished like any other great tradition whose disappearance would be a cultural tragedy.
So without further ado, we have some fantastic pen-spiration to write a letter, a Christmas card, or a diary entry with the most beautiful examples of handwriting. Scroll down below, upvote your favorite ones and be sure to check out Bored Panda’s previous lists with the perfect handwriting here and here.

Is it weird when I read this every font has different voices in my head?
Load More Replies...Looking at this makes me wonder how long it takes to learn this and be able to write so pretty within an acceptable time frame. My handwriting is terrible, maybe I should practice more.
I used to do this kind of thing in high school. If I saw someone's handwriting that I liked, I'd spend hours copying and perfecting their penmanship. It took years for me to decide on my own handwriting and even now it's got a few little quirks I picked up from others all those years ago!
Am I the only one reading it in different voices and accents? Like, clearly font #7 is an elderly british woman
did BP censor "HI Reddit"????? also this persons handwriting is amazing and im jealous cause as much as i practice mine still sucks

Actually i admire that they try to improve! I used to write a lot and had a nice handwriting but now with all the typing I've stopped and it is not so nice any more... It's good that they try even though they probably don't need it so much

To find out more about the art of handwriting and all the powers behind this undeservedly forgotten skill, we spoke with Lauren Mooney Bear, the chairperson for the “Campaign For Cursive” and the “Cursive is Cool Contest” for kids grades 1-8. “Campaign For Cursive” is part of the American Handwriting Analysis Foundation (AHAF). Lauren has been a handwriting analyst and graphologist since 1985.
If you’re wondering whether you have a talent for handwriting or not, Lauren said that anyone’s capable of it. “Handwriting, cursive writing and even calligraphy can be learned by anyone and improved upon with practice. There is an endless variety of personalities and the form of one's writing will ultimately reflect the personality and thinking processes of the individual writer.” Lauren added that calligraphy is a highly stylized form of written communication, yet it will still yield some personality traits.
My Niece’s Handwriting Is Very Precise. Calming Just To Look At
So nice. Interesting how she's adapted the letter I so the dot is in line with the other letters, not slightly above.
I wonder if this takes forever to write out? Or are they really fast too?
your niece is in the food industry...caterers make lists like that...as do requisites for restaurants, hotel banquet rooms...etc... VERY nice

My Journals
I'm so jealous, this is beautiful. The penmanship, the drawings, layout, all of it. WOW
Lots of practice and patience, like drawing or other art. Tell me, why do most of us stop drawing when we are young??
Load More Replies...Wait, you did all of that yourself?! DAMN, I wish my journals looked like that!!!
If I could go back to my youth and had this level of talent, I would record every single day of my life in this style in a journal. So even the bad things that happened on certain days would be elevated into art, and wouldn't hurt that much.
Definitely a lost art form. So beautiful to see people reviving it. Simply gorgeous
Moreover, writing styles can be developed through practice. Lauren shared some tips on how to do that: “Choose a simple 'copybook' or style you wish to adopt. Practice needn't be arduous or painful. With only a short period daily, a person will master a good script in no time. Using colored pencils really helps to embed the cursive movements into the memory.”
She continued: “We also suggest playing light classical music during practice to help relaxation and improve rhythm and writing fluidity. One of the fun programs, for adults and youth, is called CursiveLogic (links below), another one is New American Cursive.”

It’s My Nan And Grandad 60th Wedding Anniversary Today
He made this poem up on the walk home the night he first stole a kiss from her. I’ve rewritten the poem in my tidiest hand and decorated it with things that remind me of them - I hope they love it!
It's such a beautiful and authentic expression of love that my heart just melt. Unfortunately most people don't get to experience such pure love. I wish everyone finds someone who is just as madly and unconditionally in love with them as this amazing couple.
I’m sure the most interesting thing any of my exes thought while they were walking home after a date was - *looking down* “Hey - a nickel!!”. Yeah, I used to have horrible taste in men (before my husband, of course)!
What a man..a poet, a husband a lover and a romantic and how they must have loved what you did with it for them.
Moreover, handwriting can be thought of as brainwriting: all of the electrical impulses that make you 'you' are in your writing, the handwriting analyst explained. “It is normal for handwriting to change as your thinking and emotions are changing but your core personality traits will always be there.”
That means that handwriting can tell more about our personalities than we’d think. “If a person tends to be cerebral and introverted with good attention to detail, it will show up in the spacing, size of writing, slant, even the punctuation and upper loops, among other things. If someone is outgoing, verbose, the center of every party, it will show in their handwriting. You might find larger, far right slanting script, open tops on the lower case o's and a's, small or no margins, and other indicators.”

I, too, like to tell myself that my manic scribbles are the sign of a genius. And that those with a legible handwriting are a**l retentive droids with no humor, no panache, and absolutely zero joie de vivre. Secretly I know that it’s probably the other way round. Shhhh! 🤫
Load More Replies...That looks like one long sentence to me. Nice to look at but hard to read.
the letters are beautiful, but I actually find this very difficult to read. it's the kerning. the letters within each word are spaced too far apart, which makes it hard for me to understand where a word begins and ends. it just looks like a very long string of letters. it's not IMPOSSIBLE to read, but I do find myself having to look a bit harder to distinguish the individual words.
This is technically not handwriting but printing. Hand writing is cursive, which, much to my surprise, many can no longer read.
I would give this person an A BECAUSE of their handwriting. Gorgeous
Hope You Like My Spencerian Cursive Script
Beautiful writing and a Mont Blanc, probably a fine tip. What more do you need?
My mother writes like this for everything. It has become a laughing point at holidays. My kids open the card from grandma and instantly pass it to me because I can still read my mother's writing. Younger generations that didn't spend HOURS trying to write in cursive do not understand this.
Aren't you taught that in school? I am surprised that to Americans it's an "elders" thing
Sadly, US schools have stopped teaching cursive writing and it infuriates me

Incredibly, even complex personality and behavior traits can be seen in the writing, like “manipulative traits, honesty, sense of humor, sarcasm. Handwriting can show math or artistic aptitudes.” Lauren also said that an expert can even see if a couple might be compatible or if one is well suited for a particular type of employment. “Of course, the writing must be seen as a whole, one trait alone means nothing,” she added.
When asked whether handwriting is being pushed away by typing, Lauren confirmed that many of our youth are not being taught or are overwhelmed by the use of technology. “However, it is good to know that at present, 25 states have mandates that some sort of cursive/handwriting be taught in schools. Scientific research has shown that the students who learn cursive at a younger age do far better in secondary schools and in universities and tend to excel in math, science and the arts,” she added.

“The good news is that newer technology will be using handwriting. Google and other tech companies are developing apps and input devices which will help to turn the tide. We are already seeing a rise in YouTube videos about handwriting, how-to's, and handwriting analysis,” Lauren explained. She concluded that once the tide begins to turn, it will move much faster than expected.
Sheila Lowe, president of the American Handwriting Analysis Foundation (AHAF), also told Bored Panda that “throughout history, people who knew how to write have been more highly regarded than those who were illiterate. It’s really important that as a society, we give our children the many benefits that come with learning this important lifelong skill.”
The president at AHAF added that, “Dr. Jane Yank, research chair of our organization, the American Handwriting Analysis Foundation, has recently updated our white paper on why handwriting is important in a digital age. The research that supports the importance of handwriting training is coming in so fast and furious, we can hardly keep up.”

I think I might like this person. I mean, someone who has the ability to create such an interesting and precise and beautiful font has to have even more of the same in his cadre of wonders. Along with that, his clarity of wording, that would earn him some bucks in the "how to operate" - "how to assemble" - "every other how-to . . . " manual, set of instructions. Nothing against Asians, but their language is so very different from our own, they are often confusing in such instructional narratives. (I assume this is a "he" by the caption on the photo.)

Love this, the writing, not the subject. And really like that this person wanted the "r" to echo the dotted "i", the letter "k", and the tail of the capital "T". The capital "C" is also part of the elongation style, just curved. And even the writer's initials (guessing that's what those "marks" are) in the lower right of the picture has a long first "l" (?). The thickness of the letters reminds me of calligraphy, but more modern. Anyway, the whole style jibes. Really nicely done. Wish I could see the name of the pen or roller ball or gel pen used. Or maybe a pen brush? Thank you for sharing.

First of all, I hope the writer had Workers' Compensation insurance. By the time he/she got to "Cinnamon", I am sure the hand and arm were hurting! LOL! Next, did this person write "free hand"? If so, WOW! If not, and the person used a stencil of some sort, then WOW again. Only thing, it would take much longer with the stencil. Also hope that person had some kind of art smock of bib with a face mask - all that chalk dust! Next, what happens if a name has to be erased and something else written in its place? That looks like what happened to: "Chocofudge Brownie"(?) and "Mint Oreo" and "Black Raspberry" (all the way to the right and down near the bottom of the list). But even they look good, just not as fancy as the other names. Nonetheless, this is Out-absolutely-standing!!! :-)

My Handwriting
Took This A Few Days Ago. Transit Worker With Beautiful Handwriting
I like it. It looks natural, not purposely learned, and seems more attractive that way.
My Mum’s Handwriting, And Graduation Present From Years Back
How lovely! And lucky to have a mom who writes this way. Did you inherit those writing genes? That would be nice if you did. :-)

Practicing Some Handwriting
That's nice. But why not invent a style of your own? It doesn't take an outrageous amount of effort - and it's YOURS.
So Satisfying
Russian Cursive
super tricky to read if you aren't Russian. M, T, SH, SHCH, and a few others, kinda look the same.
they actually don't here and very often people will put lines on top of Ts and under Ш to make it clearer

It is relatively nice to look at, but just a tad bit hard to read. The spacing if a little uneven and the letters are not quite uniform, so all of this adds to the hard to read aspect. Tinkering is great, but if possible, please keep it so that it makes the writing legible at first look. Thank you for sharing and sorry this is late as a response.
My Friend's Handwriting
Looks like my sister's handwriting. Except with hers, you need a microscope to read it.
Not Making A Great First Impression With The Neighbors But Look At That Handwriting
Starbucks Barista Handwriting
Print Handwriting
Nice eye candy. And really would like to know where you got the paper from.
My Son's Preschool Teacher Has Some Impressive Penmanship. My Son Has A Questionable Way To Bake A Turkey
I wanna know why the eyeballs need to be removed while still in the forest....
The Most Aesthetically Pleasing Handwriting Amiright? And On A Whiteboard
This is nice, but with all due respect, I have seen better. I have not seen it here, but there is a post of a teacher in the Philippines writing on a white board that looks MAD cool! Very straight lines and neat as can be.
Writing Some Lyrics For Practice
Actually really nice. Is that a Mont Blanc by any chance? Nice color ink also.
Found My Old Dip Pen
My Boyfriend’s Mom’s Handwriting
Very Much Enjoyed The Writing On The Takeout Containers From One Of My Favorite Restaurants
Hold My Hand While We Jump Off This Cliff
Beautiful handwriting for a sad tale. Shows the supposed mindset of lemmings. Nice color ink, by the way.
Some Writing With One Of My Very Favorite Pens
Beauty crowds me til I die... Such an incredible thread. Gorgeous writing and excellent subject matter, poetry and quotes. Very inspiring and soothing. So much talent in the regular world.
Wow that is insane. I feel sooooooo inadequate now sheesh. My handwriting is a disaster. But anyway, here's a doodle in Greek, since we're using it for Covid and since we don't have a Greek sample. gk-61bb30bde98a3.jpg
This makes me feel even worse about my handwriting! All of these are so neat and uniform!
If it makes you feel better, in almost five years of grading the notebooks in MIT physics, I saw some good handwriting but nothing on this level. These are truly exemplary, and the ones that are just "normal" handwriting (like the lab books and teacher notes) are definitely something.

Now, my love of handwriting is evident in my poetry and hours of practicing hand lettering. The example, which was didn’t make the list, of Turkish handwriting hit home. I’m half Turkish and am completely in love with the language. This post is one of ultimate favorites!
Although I won the General Proficiency Award for the presentation of my work in grade 8, these posts give me both pen and penmanship envy... :P
