Dear Bored Pandas, my name is Diana but when I’m in painting mode I am Dianaya. I am a gypsyish Spaniard based in Miami, FL. My professional background is architecture (architorture) although I’m trying to drift away from it. I don’t know how to draw, much less when I see the amazing work of so many talented earthlings. If I had a hat on I’d be constantly taking it off. Painting is therapeutic for me but I have a different approach since I suck at “drawing by command” so I let my imagination do the work. Just like doing a Rorschach test.

I tend to start with a scotchie on the rocks, music of my liking and a white surface where I draw some random strokes. After adding and/or subtracting lines and turning the paper at different angles I may be lucky to find a hidden figure suggested in the chaos. Only then I know what I’m doing, or actually what I’m aiming for. That is why proportions are strange. I have absolutely no technique or training. My work is very simple. I use my fingertips as a “brush”. I hope you like it but if not, maybe it made you be a not-so-bored panda for a few. Animal lovers will probably find a stronger connection with the paintings. Yep… you found the vegan!

(I also enjoy manipulating my sketches with the computer, but that’s a different story for another post)

A panda hug for all.

Here are a few of the resulting paintings:
