Western Snowy Plovers may be a vulnerable bird on the central coast, but not Pat the Plover. He has spread his flappers and is keeping an eye on the vineyards, restaurants and beaches while Santa Maria Valley residents stay sheltered. Peel the gourd of a luffa? Check. Barbecue over bugs? Yes, please. Sip wine off the vine? Cheers to that. His plover patrol is in full swing.
