It's really hard to know in advance how it will be from person to person. For me (so far) it's definitely been worth it. It's like Jessica said, it's wonderful and yet you are awfully tired and stressed but it's the best time in my life but I don't have time for myself still I wouldn't change it for the world. For me personally, I am very, very happy we took the step and I have no regrets whatsoever. For someone else the sacrifices and changes could maybe outweigh the positive aspects - but I'm afraid there's no way to really know for certain. If you've always wanted a family, I think you might regret not having done it, but that's such a complex, personal decision that only you can make. I hope things work out for you either way. :-)

Its worth it! Its everything.... Misery and hard work, but when your little stinker hugs you and you look into their eyes its like starring at the face of god.... Its defiantly and adventure for you and your partner.

I'm sorry but did you just ask if parenting is a disruption of life!? Um, what!?!?!

It is not an easy question, as it is very personal. Children do turn your life upside down, but they are little just for a short while. They push you to your limits and I truly think they make you a better person afterall, as you learn to put someone else first. It's a decision that will need to be right for you. Not having children doesn't mean that your life will be unfulfilled, and vise versa. It's like everything in life - there are ups and downs to everything we do or decide. P.S. don't take my comics as a discouragement. It's just a way to polarise some of the parenthood experiences 🙂 I'm sure, whichever way you decide it will be worth it.

I'm not sure asking parents is wise, so many of them are secretly desperate but would never admit it to others, for fear of judgment and for their own denial. Many parents are depressed, consumed, stressed out, they feel trapped, their life is a constant emotional, physical and financial struggle, but they would never admit their unhappiness, often not even to themselves. When asked, they immediately say they "wouldn't change it for the world", it's basically Stockholm Syndrome. Check out pages like r/RegretfulParents on Reddit and the other one on Facebook for some honest feedback. Only when anonymous they will tell you the raw truth.

Thank you all for your balanced insights, I don't have friends with kids and my mum and I don't talk about these things! I agree with wanting to live with no regrets and that children are only little for a little time - no matter what hard work and trauma, it can balance. I think with the trauma and no "return" as such of the miscarriage it is so reassuring to know that it isn't the same with children xx
