I am Parth Kothekar from Ahmedabad, India. For more than 7 years now, I have been experimenting with and learning from papercuts. To challenge myself, I come up with a thematic series of artworks from time to time.

I have shared all my previous series on Bored Panda here, here, here, and here.

This drive of challenging myself arose my curiosity about animating papercuts. The understanding of 2D animation I acquired during my diploma in animation helps me with creating motion on paper.

As for the process of papercut animation, I sketch all the artworks, frame by frame, on paper. Then, I scan and print them on 80gsm paper. Consequently, I cut them out using the NT cutter craft knife. Once the cutting is done, I number the frames as per animation. For the background, I make use of my sister’s hand. She patiently sits for hours while I shoot. Each animation takes a minimum of a week to complete.
