In the aftermath of the tragedy of the fire at Notre Dame in Paris, I went back into my files to find some early images of Notre Dame that I’ve taken over many years. The first image is one that I took when I was in my early 20s. At that time Paris was a dark gray city. None of the buildings had been cleaned since they were built. At that time Andre Malraux, the famous author became the Minister of Culture. Fortunately for France, he had the marvelous idea to issue an edict to clean all of municipal buildings of Paris. Notre Dame was one of the last buildings to be cleaned. it was transformed into a glorious white monument. In effect it had risen from the ashes. I am posting this now, because I hope that these images will express what will be possible in rebuilding of this cathedral. If these images resonate with you I hope you will share them with your friends and ask them to share it with their friends. It will rise once again on the ashes!
