This is my first time having my child (7f) in an after school activity, so I am not sure what is normal or acceptable. The activity/sport is not associate with school direct but it supports the local school football team. I had to pay quite a bit to have her in the activity. She had her first practice tonight and many of the parents just stayed to watch. After practice, a notification was sent to everyone that parents will no longer be allowed at practices unless they are approved by a "board". I don't even know where this "board" of people came from. Things are different from when I was a kid and with all the bad things in the world, I am not feeling comfortable with not being allowed to be there with my kid during practices. I think the coaches are volunteers so I don't feel like they have had a background check but I don't know for sure. Am I helicopter parenting here or should I be concerned about the activity leader blocking parents from being at the practices? I would like input from other parents.

My first thought was wondering if a child’s safety was in question, and instead of singling out a parent just have everyone do it. I would go to those directors and tell them you understand the rules but explain how this rules makes you uncomfortable and it’s important to you to be there for your daughter
