Artist Endre Penovac became famous for his dog drawings in the last years, then his watercolor cats (see here and here) have brought the real breakthrough for him. His newest pieces of ink paintings demonstrate his individual attitude and techniques again on a new theme pushing the boundaries, approaching the eastern ink masters, whose vision is not far from Penovac.
After cats, we are awed by his roosters and hens. The object in Penovac’s art – whatever it is – just a pretence, a possibility to shape his principles and achieved virtuosity in the field of watercolor and ink techniques. Simplification is very important in Penovac’s art. He continues this process until he reaches a simple sign which is almost completely bare whatever the subject is.
