Photographer Simon Hjortek releases his brand new series Fotovurma, paying homage to the power of imagination and the importance of seeing new light in the noise of everyday life.
The series depicts mundane environments revealing hidden worlds and possibilities usually not visible to the everyday person living a stressful life.
In calm almost dreamlike surroundings we get to follow a person accompanied by nothing else than her camera and a mind full of ideas.
Through the eyes of the photographer we get to follow her vivid sense of imagination and her interactions in a quiet and seemingly unoccupied world.
As a child Simon often dreamt of secret places while trying to fall asleep. Watching the static noise in the dark, often figures appeared walking through the walls or dancing in the room. Through this dark nothingness images and sequences appeared naturally as if they had a life of their own. Those visions stayed throughout his life and the Fotovurma series, being visually nostalgic, is also a personal homage to those early days of imagination.
