65 Photos Of Neighbors So Inconsiderate That You Might Feel Grateful For The Ones Living Next To You
Sometimes one has an experience that serves as an important reminder that your neighbors are only a single wall away, but can still make or break your day. Loud noises, bad parking, “creative” garbage solutions are all part of the kaleidoscope, but a few people out there suffer more than most.
So we’ve gathered posts from across the internet of people sharing the horrible ways some of their neighbors behave. Get comfortable as you witness what a “neighbor from hell” actually looks like, upvote the worst ones and be sure to share your own thoughts and experiences in the comments down below.

Who Let The Dogs Out?
Here is a fun fact to chew on before the photos start rolling in. A survey of people in Switzerland found that around 80 percent of respondents felt they were the ones in the right whenever a neighbor dispute came up. That math does not add up, friends. Somebody on every street is wrong, and judging by what is coming up, a few of them are extremely committed to it.
So what actually earns a neighbor the title of annoying? Noise sits firmly at the top of the pile. In a 2026 survey from Youi Insurance, 63 percent of more than 2,000 Australians said that turning the volume down after a certain hour is simply part of being a decent neighbor, and noise or gatherings showed up in roughly one in five of the toughest neighbor experiences people described. Bass thumping through your ceiling at midnight is a crime against pillows, and no jury would convict you for feeling that way.

Noise is only the opening act though. When Compare the Market surveyed about 1,000 Brits, the top three sources of arguments were broken fences at roughly 59 percent, parking at 54 percent, and trees or plants getting chopped down at 51 percent. Notice a pattern? It all comes down to where one person’s space ends and another’s begins. Nearly one in five respondents had even called the police on a neighbor, which is a lot of drama for a patch of grass.

When Neighbors Start Talking, Good Things Happen
Which brings us to entitlement, the secret ingredient in most legendary neighbor sagas. An annoying neighbor bothers you. An entitled neighbor believes they have every right to. The difference is the attitude. Take the winter ritual known as dibs in Chicago, where residents shovel out a parking space on a public street and then guard it with lawn chairs, buckets, or whatever junk is nearby.

Yeah, because those bins get picked up by an automated arm thing. It won't work with all the junk sticking out like that.
Intelligence Humaine Maximale
The practice is technically illegal under city code but widely tolerated, and the creativity is something to behold. CBS News once noted that one person used a snowmobile to hold a spot while another dragged out a bathtub with some plumbing still attached. Sadly, ignoring somebody’s claim can end with a vandalized car, which is a steep price for parking on a public street.

If dibs is entitlement in its casual form, the spite fence is the black belt version. That is the legal term for a fence or hedge built mostly to annoy a neighbor or block their view, not to serve any real purpose. Massachusetts passed one of the first spite fence laws in the country back in 1887.

Some Neighbor Filled Up My Trash Bin Right Before Trash Pickup Day
One famous example involves San Francisco railroad investor Charles Crocker, who put up a tall fence around a neighbor’s house after that neighbor held out for far more than the market value of the property. Even a row of trees can land you in hot water, since a California appeals court concluded that trees can count as a fence under that state’s spite fence law.
Because It’s Too Much Work To Just Look Down
My upstairs neighbor did that once. Except they emptied the water from a cooler all over ME. To say I yelled some choice words at them is an understatement. 😂

I Need Petty Revenge Ideas
I’ve absolutely had it with our back neighbor. We’ve had issues with her for years.
A bit of context to understand how she’s able to do what she does. We share a driveway with the house next door to ours. Neighbor lives on the street behind us, her property sits between the two so she shares a border with the two houses. Neighbors to the side of us took down their fence six years ago and never replaced it. So neighbor has full access basically.
She regularly uses our driveway to cut through to get to her house instead of walking further down the street and around to hers (her street is a cul-de-sac and ours isn’t). We’ve seen a bunch of other people do that over the years too, cutting through her property as well. Neighbor got fed up of people using her yard as a shortcut, and put up a massive gate blocking access to her street. So for others to do this it’s totally unacceptable, but absolutely fine for her apparently.
She always let her dog out in to the yard. The dog would perpetually do its business in our yard. Did she ever come to pick it up? Nope.
And then today my mom sends me this photo while I’m at work. Neighbor is in OUR yard. Cutting lilacs from the tree that is 100% fully on our property. Did she ask us for permission first? Nope. She literally just walked over with gardening gloves and scissors to cut of a bunch of flowers.
Charge her with trespassing and get a restraining order. Hopefully they can put up their own fence!
Someone Anonymously Sent This To My Neighbor
I'm with the someone, particularly if they'd left the characters 'r dog' out of the message. I like dogs, I genuinely do, and I understand that their families love them too, but if they can't be persuaded not to bark all day they need to be living somewhere else, with people who can keep them company.
Please Don’t Wake Her Precious Baby
Of course, not every offense needs a snowmobile or a legal team. Everyday annoyances count too. A study of New South Wales residents by Domain Group and Nielsen found that pets and parties made up more than half of all complaints, while nosy neighbors who cannot mind their own business irritated about 21 percent of people. Loud fights and slamming doors rounded out the greatest hits, and overflowing bins made the list at 7 percent, which means somebody out there is quietly judging your trash day habits.

My Parents Hoa Passed A Rule This Year That All Houses In The Neighborhood Must Be 35' From The Road. These Neighbors May Have To Tear Their House (Which Has Been There For 12+ Years) If They Are Not Approved For A Variance Permit
So what separates a mildly irritating neighbor from a truly legendary one? Usually it is a combination of treating shared walls, streets and driveways as private property, refusing to consider how their behavior lands on others, and skipping the one step that solves most problems, which is a polite chat.
My Neighbor Keeps Her Camera Pointed Straight At My Back Door
Tack a fake plant to your side of the fence so that it blocks the camera. Or a big piece of cardboard.

Get a big mirror (or two or three) and aim the light back into their house.
Neighbor Has The Sidewalk Permanently Blocked
1. Open the gate all the way, so it's flat against the fence. 2. Secure it to the fence: twisted wire, nuts 'n' bolts or tack weld.3. Repeat with other side of gate.
Naturally, none of that wisdom seems to have reached the neighbors in these pictures. If the pictures ahead are any indication, a shared wall can hold a surprising amount of tension, and some people will go to extraordinary lengths to protect a patch of pavement, a view, or a very questionable garden gnome collection. Keep scrolling, and if your own neighbor starts to look like a saint by comparison, consider sending them a thank you note. Cookies are optional but never unwelcome.

Update On Neighbor That Puts Sandbags Across Sidewalk
From Reddit: So this is the new form of blocking the sidewalk. It crosses the entire sidewalk causing a tripping hazard to anyone who using the sidewalk. I’ve called the village to complain about the bags and they sent the police out a couple times to have them removed but they keep getting put back each time it rains. I have purchased my own sandbag to stop the increased amount of water from rushing down the sidewalk next to my house to help control the problem he is causing to some degree. Not sure what else to try to do. Talking to him is not a good idea because he and we do not get along and it will lead nowhere just as it has in the past.
We Left 7 Months Ago. Came Back To This. Upstairs Neighbor Had A Leak And Never Fixed It
I have questions. Like: didn't they have anyone cou could have asked to look in once in a while when leaving fot more than half a year? For reasons exactly like this? Nobody could have expected that kind of shítty behaviour - but it's also far too long a time to not anticipate *some* kind of trouble, be it a burglary, a broken pipe, or a cockroach infestation.

Weird Airbnb Neighbor
For this college program I'm in, we have a trip where we visit businesses in cities
The group split an Airbnb and we all arrived around 7pm went to sleep around 10pm-11pm
At 4am, some of us woke up to a loud bang in the backyard. When all of us woke up, we noticed there were multiple trashbags and glass bottles broken on the steps
A random lady decided to walk back and take a picture with her digital camera. We didn't think too much about it.
We told the host and they said the trash would be cleaned soon
A few minutes later, we all go outside to get our Uber and the same lady rushes outside to take pictures of us at 8am
Next day, same thing
We told the host about it and they said "Oh we have a crazy neighbor that does that because she thinks Airbnb's are illegal" ??? Wish they could have mentioned that
She also put this sign up
Luckily, we leave soon but we feel like a zoo animal.
This seems less a crazy neighbor and more a scummy neighbor running an illegal AirBNB

My neighbors constantly allowing their dogs to run loose in the neighborhood. They breed Pits and can’t contain them. They run into the streets, harass people and other pets. To be fair, I’m concerned for the dogs getting hurt as much as for my children’s and pets safety.
Call Animal Control. They will take care of loose dogs and fine the owners.

Just Caught A Neighbour "Walking Their Dog" By Car
Judging by the poll, it's blocking egress that bothers us most. I can't stand people parking in our driveway but as a renter can do nothing because I don't have title.
What do I think? I think that an awful lot of people seem to be completely clueless with regard to how one might deal with problems like this, and/or maybe they're just going for Internet points with these stories. I'm surprised no one complained about people committing physical abuse to another human being on a regular basis, or operating a meth lab. I've had to deal with that one and it took a whole year to get law enforcement interested in dealing with it. I'd already moved by the time they'd shut it down.
