Shadows And Mist: I Draw Mystical Creatures With Graphite
8Kviews
For its way to reveal the texture of the paper, as well as the material on itself, graphite is the ideal art medium to achieve the atmosphere I want to bring out in my works of art. It allows a full and obvious light and shadows play. It’s a restless backward and forward movement between light and shadows, one existing only in relation to the other. The merging blacks and grays offer countless landscapes for these beautiful drawings, discreet but real, waiting for one’s imagination to get into.
My drawing ideas find their origins in Nordic and Celtic mythology, as the symbols they carry. I’m fascinated by the omnipresence of this savage Nature, full of ageless mythological creatures playing by unknown laws to us. These forests, these sanctuaries, made out of ancient trees endowing knotted roots and branches, are talking about old times. I’m looking forward to these primordial places in my black and white drawings and the worrying serenity that springs out of them.

The best! Nice to see that someone is still using pencils :)
My pencils are never too far from me ^^ Thanks Maciej!
Love the use of lights, darks, and details in these. Graphite is a favorite medium of mine but I tend to only use one pencil, what sort of pencils do you use? :)
Thanks Amanda! :) I usually use Tombow Mono 100 pencils.
Stunning.
