It all started the week after Christmas ( I know that sucks) I had a horrible pain in my left hip. See I’m the reckless kind and tend to get hurt a lot, so I didn’t tell anyone about it. Figuring I just sprained it. Ya, I was soooo wrong about that. Anyways it lasted about a week before I told anyone. We did the whole” why didn’t you tell us” argument then loaded into the truck and drove an hour to the nearest town that could help me. (We live in a very small town) As I told you I get hurt a lot so when I walked into the chiropractor, I got immediate help. They yanked and pulled on my leg, as it turned out I just sprained it! Or did I?

The next day I went to school on crutches and some pain meds. We noticed that my heart was beating really fast and my breathing was labored. Heres the deal, my Dad is allergic to this medication. Ok simple- allergic reaction. A little Asprin and I’m on my way. Or not… The next day I stayed home. My body felt like it was running slow and everything felt heavy. This was a wakeup call to my EMT Dad. He told me to go to bed and he’ll check on me about 10:00. I never got my sleep. I ended getting woken up at 9.

“Get up your going to the ER”

So off I went into the cold night with sweats and a t-shirt. Once again I got hauled into the truck. once we got to the hospital, they had a team of night-shifters waiting for me. The rest was a blur. The uncomfortable bed, the needles, alarmed voices. Finally, they took me to another room and got me a CT Scan. They didn’t like the results. We called my Mum and told her to pack for a “couple of days”, that I was getting flown out. She brought clothes and my stuffed animal Strawberry.

There was a lot of phone calls. Multiple of which were contacting surrounding hospitals to see if they could take me. one after another they turned me down, saying I was too sick and they weren’t going to take me. So we tried a major children’s hospital 5 hours away, but they couldn’t fly in the storm. the 100 time is the charm, right? Finally, we got one, another major children’s hospital in the next state over. They came and we flew to our destination. This time when we arrived there were about a dozen nurses and doctors. They sedated me and I didn’t wake up for another 8 days…

When I did wake up I ate nasty chocolate pudding while they told me about my condition. Apparently, I had a Staph infection ( Look it up) that had gotten so bad I got multiple blood clots, my lungs filled with blood (that explains the tubes coming out of my side) One of the major blood clots were right at my hip… I hadn’t sprained it after all! I dont understand it very well but at my hip, my femer bone started to rot away because of the Staph. They had to go in more than once and clean my bone. I suffered in pain (I had pain meds to hold it down a little) for a month. Ok do the math- I had about 4 blood draws every day, two Xrays every day, about 16 different medications to take every day. Overall I had about 7 surgeries, 40 I.V.’s 4 MRI’s and multiple CT scans. They told me that is I stayed away for more than an hour I would have died. After a month I got to go home. Little did I know I had much more drama to come…

Please if you have any questions just ask! I wont be offended by any comments either!
