In the summer of 2016 my husband of 24 years suddenly told me he wanted a divorce. I had seen no signs of it coming, and it was really hard.

To do something for my self I went on a summer art school in the weeks that he was going to have our son.

I hadn’t painted in 20 years but all of a sudden I found the tranquillity and peace that I hadn’t experienced in a long time.

It feels like the beginning of a new era in my life, an era where I can do whatever I like because I got the space now.
