This Man Takes To Facebook To Explain To Fellow Dads How They Can Help Their Breastfeeding Partners

The life of a newborn is usually associated with the mother and it seems completely normal. After all, she’s the one who carried the baby around literally within her for around nine months and even when the little one is out in the world, it’s still probably completely dependant on her for at least a couple of months. Seems like there’s not much to do for the dad except diaper duty, huh? Well, it’s certainly not everyone’s opinion. One man took to Facebook to beautifully explain how men can participate and help even with delicate and intimate processes such as breastfeeding. Scroll down to see his message to all the dads and dads-to-be!

He is currently residing in Los Angeles, California with his wife Hejira Thompson and two beautiful baby girls – Zendaya and Zuri Lily and he’s committed to making the life of his daughters the best life possible. “I honestly just do whatever it takes to make them smile and laugh. They don’t require toys or even going places. Even though those things are great too but what’s most important is effort. Even dead tired, I’m always committed to giving them maximum effort and in return, they give me these smiles and laughs that can make the hardest of days better,” he said, being a real inspiration to all the parents out there.

“I started writing when we had our first daughter, Zendaya. It was a way for me to get help with different feelings and situations I was going through as a new Dad. Once I started doing it, I realized how much information a new Dad will just have to learn on the job vs. being educated. That’s when I started sharing more so that others could see they weren’t alone in what they may go through. Also, women would respond at such a high rate that I saw the opportunity for women to help teach men things we need to know,” he says.

Giving some useful tips for dads and dads-to-be all over the world

But it’s not only sunshine and rainbows on his social media as well. He tends to surprise the world with some key insight on parenthood and, let’s be honest, even those considering themselves to be the best need some help and inspiration from time to time and he sure is here to provide that. He also doesn’t disregard any aspect of his family life and even admits that “When Zuri was born, I was a tad bit nervous. Zendaya was still so young (they are 15 months apart) and I felt guilty that she didn’t get more time as the baby alone”. Despite his concerns, both girls seem to be very happy like “two peas in a pod”. They do everything together and if one cries, the other always comes to comfort”. He says the girls are now true BFFs and his biggest job is to ensure they stay that way.

He also adds that “Becoming a Dad has been the single most life-changing experience of my life. It’s helped me grow, it’s slowed me down and it’s given me a greater appreciation for my own parents. Every day is like the first day of my new life. Every struggle teaches me things I may need to work on about myself, every milestone excites me, and every moment scares me because I’ll never get it back and it’s one less moment I’ll ever have. It’s like the greatest glass of water on a nice hot day. Being Dad refreshes my soul.”

The Internet was quick to respond with appreciation

Also, people need to understand that BOOBS EXIST and they will continue to exist EVEN IN PUBLIC. Breastfeeding should be allowed in public.

to paraphrase one of my favourite writers : The mothers and babes shouldn't be penalised just because some guys can’t be a grown-up about the fact that the lunchboxes attached to the woman's chest aren’t for them.

That right there is a good man, a good husband and a good father. Oh, and I agree with the diaper duty, burping, sling carrying and formula feeding in the comments. All good ideas

Great partner, unfortunately I allowed myself to pressured into not breastfeeding my baby by my ex-partner. I do regret that decision I made then.
