It's more about the fact that there's so much parent shaming about different ways to raise your kids that more parents are posting about the actual struggles of parenthood instead of acting like everything is picture perfect.

AMEN!!!!! And Hayley you are absolutely right... now... I don't have children (so most people are going to disregard my opinion right now) but I have spent time babysitting and taking care of children and I've seen first hand the parent on parent crimes that occur from people who thought the kids I was watching were my own. Everything from "your daughter is too young to have her hair dyed" to "don't let your kid eat peanuts in public" has been said to me and most of it has been in really catty, almost degrading ways...how about as parents you all stick together and stop shaming each other because someone else is raising THEIR child in a way you wouldn't raise yours!

It's not a bad idea. It's actually gives the protection to the child. There is a reason hugging decrease stress levels nd immediately after birth skin to skin contact is advised. It's keeping the children away, is what is abnormal and wrong.

I have my kid sleep in my bed occasionally. Love it. I don't see how it's a bad idea. It's good for bonding. Pretty sure back in cave man days you wouldn't have your baby sleep in a separate cave.

co-sleeping while exclusively breastfeeding is actually a very good idea. you should look into it if you have such a strong opinion on the matter.

Don't know why people think this is a myth. These are just the ones from recent memory. I wasn't paying attention before I had my little one. There are ways/devices to cosleep safely, but not everyone does so. Our friend in Germany says her best purchase was a cosleeper that attaches to the side of the bed, but those aren't available in Canada. It's not always about "crushing" a baby, but more an asphyxiation concern. One time my husband fell asleep while watching her, he moved and the comforter ended up covering her (and muffling her cries). yeah...sleeping with a baby <1 year old increases their risk for sudden infant death (SIDs). It's the number one cause of infant deaths before age 1. So yeah bad idea, not a myth

Agree...kids need to learn to self-soothe at bedtime. Took some patience at first, but my kids sleep like logs now. Go to their room if they need attention, but once you bring them to your room, it's all over.

Dear you are so right. Children should not sleep with the parents. It's dangerous if one the parent rolls over the baby or small child.
