People Call Breastfeeding Model “Disgusting”, Probably Regret It After Her Friend Posts The Real Story Behind It
Model Mara Martin has been in the headlines lately, after nursing her baby on the catwalk as part of a Sports Illustrated swimsuit show. The happening, which was described as a spur-of-the moment thing, has been hailed as ’empowering’ and ‘inspirational’ by many media outlets, and Mara herself wrote on Instagram: “I’m so grateful to be able to share this message and hopefully normalize breastfeeding and also show others that women CAN DO IT ALL!”
Predictably however, not everyone was impressed. Amongst the outpourings of positivity and respect, there have been a number of critical voices offering up a range of grievances, as well as the usual trolls who are just there to spread hate. One commentator, who identified herself as Mara’s best friend, wasn’t having any of the hate however, and delivered a quite stunning response, full of love and respect for her friend’s actions.

Honestly, so many fashion shows have models parading topless. Some clothes are literally transparent. But noooo, it's breastfeeding, so she's totally an attention seeker.. ugh. Those negative people should seek some empathy.

I wouldn't be brave enough to show my boob to the whole world. She was, it's her thing and nothing for me to judge. Oh, and if you are disgusted - you can always look away. Noone forces you to stare. Who is more disgusting? She feeding her child or you staring at her breast? :/

The baby was nursing already as it came up to be her turn. You can't schedule a young baby like that - if she's hungry, feed her. I am pretty sure that if mom had just pulled the baby off her breast and said wait, I'll be right back, that baby wouldn't have just said, "Ok, sure mom, no prob" - nope - that kid would have screamed bloody murder because she was hungry. Ok, now you've got a screaming hungry baby disrupting the show - what kind of shaming would she have endured for that? Child abuse/neglect! Freak out!! You can't win either way when there are people out there who just want to bash. She fed her child. Big whooping deal. I nursed four babies, over the years, in public and nobody ever noticed. The only time it was noticed was when my friend thought my baby disappeared because it was under the cover on my shoulder, lol.

If a baby is hungry you feed it, end of story. So tired of how people get angry over breast feeding. it's natural, it's a part of life. I am shocked some people called this disgusting, there is nothing disgusting about a baby eating. We all have been the baby.
