Millennials Are Pretending To Be Baby Boomers In This FB Group And Here Are 25 Hilarious Posts
Baby boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) and millennials (born between the early 1980s and early 2000s) are not on good terms with each other. To oversimply, baby boomers think that millennials are entitled brats who don't take responsibility for pretty much anything while millennials believe that baby boomers are hopelessly outdated in the modern world. The two groups are constantly taking stabs at one another, and Twitter user Anna (@manhattanna) has recently found a perfect example of this ongoing war. Turns out, there's a Facebook group where millennials are pretending to be baby boomers, making fun of the ways they use social media. Anna tweeted screenshots of the group's activity, and the pics have already accumulated over 171K likes, with many commenters saying that the impersonations are so accurate, they're hilarious.

They're making fun of Boomers' inaccurate use of background and emoji choices.

The balloon and cake backgrounds imply a celebration while the "laughing until you are crying" emojis imply humor. What's not to get? I am not a millennial (Generation Xer) and understand this one.
I'm a GenX too, but I don't get the joke either, and like someone else said, too much punctuation.
Load More Replies...I don't think this is funny at all.... sounds like something a millennial would do...a******s
Anna herself was born in 1998, a kind of a generation gap."I can relate to [both] millennial characteristics and generation Z," she told Bored Panda. "[Millennials] are the future, they’re stressed out, and have a unique sense of humor."
Sure enough, the millennial generation have plenty of stuff to worry about. Compared to previous generations, for example, 22 to 37-year-old millennials are delaying or foregoing marriage and have been somewhat slower in forming their own households, especially compared to the baby boomer generation. They are also more likely to be living at home with their parents and for longer stretches.
Elissa, this is mom not Bob. What did you post this here? Are you going to Aunt Cindy’s for Gina’s birthday party? I will bring the macaroni salad. Love, Mom
Elissa it’s good to hear from you but why did you post this on my page. Love, Mom
someone forget to put "this is another scam!" to the comments. I see a boomer post that on every ad or post....
Most baby boomers, on the other hand, married relatively young (before the age of 25), but only two-thirds of these remain married today. In the case of many baby boomers in the workforce, they believe that time and experience are the key components that earn someone authority so that the longer a person serves an organization, the better ranking they deserve. Interestingly, they are also more likely to hold leadership positions in high paying fields such as medical or engineering. You could say that baby boomers pay credit where credit is due. For example, boomers contribute to the majority of positive feedback online as well.
"The baby boomers that end up being characterized in the group are all the stereotype of the typical baby boomer who's clueless as to how to use the internet, blames millennials for the downfall of the earth, and usually some kind of racist/sexist/homophobic," Anna explained.
No, no they dont. I've seen plenty of baby boomers with grammar no better than a 5 yo.
Load More Replies...I have aunts and uncles who actually talk like this. I wonder why. They often post in all caps too.
Yes, ALL CAPS is a thing with some that I know, as if they think they’re sending a telegram in an old black & white movie, and the email provider charges by the word.
Load More Replies...Boomers continuously have the most egregious grammatical errors. The lack of proper punctuation and simple sentence structure, most often times, makes it difficult to destinguish what they're even trying to convey.
Distinguish? Also, those should be hyphens, not commas in that sentence. But you can't easily type them on phones and tablets so whatever.
Load More Replies...Boy all of the misspellings are a dead giveaway that this is a Millenial.
Wtf, did they miss spelling and grammar in elementary school? This group is not funny. Fail.
Yes. It’s showing that boomers don’t have great spelling or grammar skills
Load More Replies...She found the group through someone else’s tweet and is really glad that it has gained popularity. "I've gotten so many messages from people saying they were having a rough day/struggling lately, and that the posts on this millennials vs baby boomers group make them laugh and gave them a distraction," Anna added.
I love that the kayak is tied to that jeep like a hostage is tied to a chair. I’m pretty sure that jeep could roll down a mountainside and that kayak would still be on the roof.
Oh hey! I know her! Almost thought it was someone else until I saw the finger.
At least it is not constant selfies and making that god awful fish face
HAHAHA my mom's name is Cheryl, she drives a Jeep, and owns a kayak LOL
Is bad grammar and horrible spelling part of the joke? The youngs are usually the ones with all the mistakes. I kind of think they don’t even realize how unintelligent they appear. Poor things. You have to pity them.
possibly on paper. but the amount of errors in spelling and grammar online are horrible.

Ever thought about, if Jesus was really gay, and instead of Amen, he said, ah, men 🤔
Load More Replies...So I couldn't stop thinking about this kid's haircut - like was he embarrassed? how could this happen? did he want this? And I googled around and found that this is (or was) a particular hairstyle in Russia. I feel a little better knowing that this kid probably wanted this. It's also close to a specific punk hairstyle from the 80s. At any rate, his friends probably have the same cut, he's fine and I'm not feeling secondhand trauma for him anymore.
please tell me this is photoshop, it isn't good to change you're children's looks for humor
This is the haircut Petunia Dursley gave Harry Potter... 😳 I understand why it grew back...
Seriously I’m 62 and I’ve been on the Internet since Mobius. Most of my friends are my age if not older and are equally adept at using Internet. We mainly use it for political satire. What you’re actually making fun of is badly educated people. I see these types of posts from undereducated, religious right winger 30 somethings all the time.
I wish I could upvote your comment more. People are quick to say millenials/boomers. When really it's any generation.
Load More Replies...Honestly, it wasn't that long ago I was confused what an app store was, too.
I think many of them forget that we > the older generation created what is known as the "World Wide Web" today.
How much for the folgers coffee can left side of shelf second tier down, right side of pic? Been looking for one and 4.79 at walmart is a good price but they fill those things with coffee grounds! Can you believe it? Dang, I stopped trying to buy cigar boxes years ago when they had the nerve to tell me I had to buy them filled with cigars. Like I really wanna get cancer just to decoupage a box.
My Great Aunt Elaine, really did sell Home Interiors lol, every sibling, including my grandma ,had their entire house decorated with Home Interior lol
They forgot to add that prices start at a very reasonable $300. Their stuff is always worth more than everyone else's
lol. My brother made the mistake of trying to help my grand parents sell a nasty a*s carpet on craigslist. they were insisting it was 'Persian- made in Persia!' (tag said made in Taiwan) that they payed 4 grand for it so it must be worth three grand (over a couple of decades ago) and that we 'Millennials' are just being too cheap.... (the thing was s**t-stained from their annoying poodles, it was thread bare and worn in. Half of it was sun-faded where a coffee table wasn't and most of it faded into a nasty 70's orange color.)

Is this babyboomers vs. millenials a US thing? Frankly, I hardly understand most of the entries here. Truly understand, in the sense of not comprehending what might be referred to...
It's mostly a thing being instigated on social media. I've never run across it in real life. I think Gen X is behind it all. ( Sorry, Gen X, I didn't want you to feel left out.)
Load More Replies...Millennial here, this is absolutely hysterical because all of our grandparents and great aunts and uncles behave EXACTLY like this on FB. I laughed almost the whole way through this because I could see someone in my family doing what I was reading on nearly every one.
Wow, reading some of these comment I amazed at how many people seem to take offence at this. It is a joke, people teasing many baby boomers ability to properly understand how to use social media and what is appropriate to say. Why do people have to get so crabby at a joke? As for being negative about 2 generations making fun of each other people saying this is new, you live under a rock, children will always complain that their elders are out of touch, and the elders will always complain that the youth have it so much easier than in their day, it was the same between the boomers and their parents, and is the same between gen X and their children. The only thing I don't get about this group is people seem to think BBs cant type or spell, the keyboard isn't something that was invented when the internet was.
As a member of neither of these generations (I'm Gen X) I don't "get" the humour. At best a couple of these made me slightly smile if I squinted at them just right.
Eh, it's just one of those "it really be like that" kind of relateable funny. My mom doesn't write like this, but she has friends younger than her that definitely do, and it's funny because it's universal (people from many countries and different cultures and languages just all somehow act the exact same way). I'm a millennial and I find most millennial memes funny, whether they fit me, someone I know, or just the stereotype of millennial.

Agreed. Some Boomers supported wars, some protested them. They lit a fire under women's rights, civil rights, LGBTQ rights. Boomers are a huge and far from homogenized group, and have brought both good and bad changes to the world. Ditto millennials - I've deleted 3 young men because they were alt-right bigots. My Gen X friends are as mixed as any other group.. Generations mean nothing, really.

Absolutely. Ask yourself if you adore everyone you know your own age. And realize generations mean nothing except what pop culture you share.

I think this kind of discussion is not very relevant. The conflict between the generations has always existed, now it is more evident because of the social media. The pseudo-conflict between boomers and millenials, tomorrow will have other protagonists, the millenials and the next generation. I believe that both should respect the posture of each group, the boomers should help the new generation to progress and the millenials should help the old generation to adapt to the new situations.
If anything, every BB I deal with spells everything out (and correctly) with punctuation. Some of these were a little funny but the awful attempts to misspell words ruined it.
I agree, they make it sound like we don’t have grammar skills. We had grammar and English stuffed down our throats. I think 🤔 the younger generation could learn something about commas, spelling, paragraphs, et al.

I'm at the ragged edge of Boomer and unfortunately this is how some of my friends interact with the medium. It's odd because they don't talk like this in real life, just online. I've deleted dozens of people I thought were relatively intelligent, only to find that if you hand them an iPhone and open a FB account for them they become bad-meme-posting zombies.
