One major feature of using the internet is being constantly exposed to the opinions of thousings, if not millions of people all the time. Sometimes this is illuminating, educational and humanizing. Other times, you might end up feeling like your eyes need a soap-bath

The “Men and Females” internet group is dedicated to sharing hilarious screenshots of people who have strong opinions about women while simultaneously not quite knowing that this word exists. Bored Panda got in touch with the group's creator to learn more. So get comfortable as you read through some folks' deceptions, upvote your favorite ones and share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Woo! This isn't mansplaining in my opinion anyway, it's ironic mansplaining to make a point as an ally

Bored Panda got in touch with the netizen who created the “Men and Females” group and they were kind enough to answer some of our questions. First and foremost, we wanted to hear the backstory of the page.

“I started this sub because I had been noticing for years that people would use men and females in the same sentence, and often it was coming from a sexist perspective. "Female" was used to belittle women the poster didn't respect, but because it was a normal word and not a slur no one could say anything about it. This sub started out as just a way for me to screenshot when I found examples while browsing the internet, I never thought the sub would grow to over 73k members.”

Naturally, we wanted to hear their thoughts on why the group got so large. “I think the sub became so popular because it's not just me who noticed this covert sexism happening all over the Internet and in real life. I'd tag the sub every time I saw a comment or post that was relevant and usually get replies saying "Yes! I thought I was the only one who thought this was weirdly sexist, I didn't know there was a sub for it!"” they shared with Bored Panda.

I like the stilts. Makes me think of Ellen Ripley in that scene from Alien 2. I doubt that blue-barred commenter could watch that without feeling woefully inadequate.

Given their extensive experience, we wanted the page’s admin to delve a bit deeper into why this phenomenon appeared in the first place. “I think in certain instances people use "female" in an attempt to sound educated or to make their sexist comments sound more formal or logical and therefore have more merit. There are many posts to the sub where men in particular will flat out say that they are using "female" to degrade a woman they don't find desirable in some way, that "they don't deserve to be called a woman."”

To be fair I see some truth in this comment. Another woman getting her tits out does not empower me in the slightest. Getting my own out? Different story. But I don’t because I’d rather use my brain than my tits to show my strength as a woman. Or as a human. Brains seem to be sadly lacking in this fool though.

The internalized misogyny in your comment is a lot to unpack. You can be both extremely intelligent and wear revealing clothing or even be a sex worker because that is the entire point of feeling good about yourself and doing things that make you happy. You can "use your brain" in a large variety of ways and not all of them have to be something like lawyer or doctor or accountant. It's just such a weird thing to say that you would feel empowered if you did it yourself then not only s**t shame, but insinuate other women who dress provocativly are not as intelligent as you. While simultaneously trying to distance yourself from the same misogyny in that original post I might add. But the reality is you're different than him if you can really think dressing a certain way or certain types of employment make other women "less than" in any capacity at all. Try therapy.

Context here will determine how much of a douch cannoe he is. Ie is he the anti breastfeeding in public pos who needs to never go near let alone impregnate a woman. Or is he talking about in general or when a woman does things like onlyfans. Because only fans ect is a platform where for the first time a woman is fully incarge of her marketing before it was men selling her for money men in control of her body. In general were living in a time in western world where women have more choices , more control and more opertunities (still a long way to go ) a man could always do almost as he pleases so of course they don't get it lol yeah we do go, you go girl because she dsnt care what you or others think and as long as your not restricting a women we dont either. That's the point you dnt need to get it, its not for you lol if a woman finds it empowering than it IS empowering. A man saying its not dsnt make it do lol

Life doesn't revolve around your privates. Get over yourself. Life revolves around how well you can contribute to society or at least doing no harm.

Cantaloupe could take it down a few notches, it's not like he's quoting gangsta rap about killing b*tches and pimping hoes. Female is about the least offensive thing I've ever been called.

“Boys”. We already do that in our culture to minimize, excuse, and infantilize males when they commit crimes or commit mayhem, at ANY age. “Boys will be boys” - “They’re just being boys” - explains away räpe, assault, murder, etc. of girls or women.

“The sexist use of the innocent word has been going on long before women started noticing and speaking up about it. Anti-feminists and incels are just upset that women are calling it out. They don't get what the big deal is because there are no male-specific insults like there are for women for them to compare to,” they shared.

“It's easy to think something is silly when you've never been oppressed and don't bother to care about or notice the nuances of the culture you're living in. One post on the sub compared using "female" to saying "the blacks" instead of "black people". It's a dog whistle.” For those who are unaware, a dog whistle is a seemingly innocuous phrase that bigots use to communicate with each other.

“Many users will also defend the use of "men and females" as a way to be transphobic. They're further showing their misogyny by saying "woman can mean anything nowadays, we have to say female if we mean biological women" but somehow the same logic never applies to men or males.”

“I just want to add, using "female" when you mean "woman" is not the end of the world, it's just one of the many annoyances of living in a sexist society. I think anti-feminists, misogynists, incels, etc. just get angry to see how women come together to fight against sexism, whether it be subtle sexist remarks or large-scale oppression.”
