Medea

It’s a modern representation of Medea, from Euripides’ Medea. Medea was the wife of Jason and mother of their two children. In the tragedy Jason leave his family to marry a king’s daughter. Medea learns that, and kills the king and his daughter with poison. Later she kills her own children too, to make Jason suffer.

Being a 3D artist, I photographed my model in a studio, and replaced the background with my own 3D background modeled in Maya and rendered in Clarisse. To make the lighting similar in 3d as it was set up in the studio, I measured the position of the lights, and noted their power settings too. I used a grey ball to match the light in the 3D
scene to match to the photo. It took couple of days after work to finish the final image. I went for a moody, grief image, representing Medea.
