Every time there’s a post about childhood abuse, I say this: research has shown that physical discipline not only DOES NOT WORK, but backfires and brings on even more undesirable behaviors. It does not teach children to obey; it teaches them to lie and sneak around and hide bad behavior in order to avoid pain. It teaches children to fear the people who are supposed to love them and care for them. “Dad used to beat me, and I turned out fine!” is a load of poo. No sir, you did NOT turn out fine. You turned into an adult who thinks that you have to beat your innocent child to get them to cooperate. You turned into an adult who thinks that violence is the answer to every problem. You turned into an adult who expects 100% compliance from a child- OR ELSE!!! And more…

This is true, but depending on how deep the trauma is, it can be difficult to find a better path.

Not excuse, just that it's to common? Could it also be an eye opener to some why they are the way they are, and why they also need to stop/change/get help etc? (not my downvote)

GreenWick, I ask you to be careful here. TRUE, this is absolutely used asxan excuse by some. Not saying this is you: I have also experienced folks talking like you while transferring the wounds into uber-control behaviors that damage others in very serious hidden ways. Your fury suggests a possibility of unresolved fears. I say this as one myself

If you seriously still think voting changes anything… the system is just not working, it’s full of the same kinds of people and parties that just exchange seats and don’t care about people, it’s all circus, it’s all a show. They give society scraps to fight and vote for while major decisions are never ever in our hands. It’s all pretend, illusion that we have any type of power over their decisions. There’s no way to vote to seriously change anything.
