It’s never been easy to express myself with words. Somehow I can’t express what is inside me. And that is like a storm, like in every artist. It is hard to describe it. My name is Martina Semitekolo and I am fine art photographer based in Croatia. I am 30 years old. I’ve been taking photos since 2015. I usually do fine art (conceptual ) and portrait photography but also animals, weddings and commercial. It is hard for me to call myself a photographer, because it is like photography lives in another more real world, where the material things are expressed better, unlike the spiritual ones. I try to create stories and creative photographs in every section of photography. Whether it is in product photography or wedding photography. I always approach it in a personal way, one that will fit the client. The scenes often combine reality and fantasy to reveal that wonder can still be discovered in the forest, on the shoreline, and even in the wall of a quiet room. It is the task of an artist to create a story worth telling and the task of all people to write a story worth living. To realize we are all artists is to live the story we write for ourselves. I create all props, and costumes seen in my images. For editing I am using Photoshop CC and Lightroom. A lot of things inspire me, but I am most inspired by the fairytales, my imaginary world, alchemy, life, love and so on.

I read somewhere this and I agree completly with those words: “It was within the power of the creative artist to build a bridge between two worlds, even though the task was almost too great for a man… Everywhere transience is plunging into the depths of Being. It is our task to imprint this temporary, perishable Earth into ourselves, so deeply, so painfully and passionately, that its essence can rise again, invisible, inside of us. We are the bees of the invisible. We wildly collect the honey of the visible, to store it in the great golden hive of the invisible.”

And in the end of a day…I just want to highlight this – Your skills are like muscles – they constantly need exercise, practice, and stretching. If you leave them be for so long they will become weak and tired.
