Woman Notices Man Next To Her Is Texting Someone That He’s Sitting Next To ‘Smelly Fatty’, And It Escalates Quickly
Many suffer from body-shaming but one woman has just claimed that she had to endure it while on a plane. By a man sitting next to her. “Before I knew it, I could feel hot, salty tears coming down my face,” Savannah Phillips wrote on Facebook. She said she was stuck there, crying because of the humiliation she couldn’t escape from.
“I haven’t experienced body-shaming like that since I was in grade school,” Savannah told Bored Panda. The whole incident, however, took an unexpected turn when another passenger intervened to help her. It was a bar manager, Chase Irwin.
“I would also like to add that I do forgive him,” Savannah said. “I have said lots of things in my life that I shouldn’t have, just like everyone else. If I hated him, I would not be any different and it is vital to respond with love. Only love brings change in the world.”
Phillips said that neither she nor Chase have spoken with the man ever since. She doesn’t even know who he is. “And I really don’t want to know. I don’t want this story to be about him – my goal was for it to be about Chase and how we should all be brave like he was and stand up for others.”
Scroll down to read how everything unfolded in Savannah’s own words and learn why she considers Irwin a hero!

People had a lot to say about situation
"Man On Plane Calls His Seatmate A ‘Smelly Fatty,’ Probably Wishes He Hadn’t" → I suggest a title focusing more on the hero guy, since he's the one who deserves more spotlight. Also because I hiiiiiiiiighly doubt the "villain" here cares about this at all.
Oh, and one more thing. A more positive title will attract more interest from the audience. With a title like that, people will most likely expect a petty revenge story.
Load More Replies...You guys are so quick to judging her as childish and/or "weak". She shared her story, she saw his text, even the GUY behind saw the text, which meant the "private" message was easy to read as the bald dude didn't even have the decency to make it discreet. If you didn't like her story or found it silly, move on to the next one. Sometimes this place has way too much negativity on posts that could use some empathy.
but... she's not even fat? plane bully was a d**k. well done to plane hero, he acted calmly and was the voice the lady needed.
This woman is beautiful. I think this "comedian" just needed something to text to show how endlessly entertaining his life is.
First...she is beautiful, just not the now popular size 2-4. Second, I am heavy. My response to people is that I could probably lose the fat, but they will have a harder time losing the stupid.
If you're going to be a massive prick in a text, at least have enough brains to hide it from other people.
Could people just stop staring at strangers phones? It's odd to get offended after they're the ones spying on tiny screen where there could have been something very personal to the stranger. It's weird paranoia going on when everything others do have to be observed and recorded in case it might be something to do with you.
Seriously! I'm going to start texting about how bad my period is and describing the clots in detail when texting next to someone. Good lord, I had no idea people were 1. so nosy and 2. so proud of it!

Society is in real danger of becoming totalitarian, if people are no longer allowed to say what they want in PRIVATE messages. Like I said, it wasn't very nice of him and it's horrible she saw it but, what someone writes to someone in a private message is nobody's business but the sender and recipient of said message.
Sorry but I have to disagree. If he is as blind as a mole so everyone around him can see the text no matter wanting to read it or not, he must have known there was a possibility someone else was able to see his message. He is just a rude and careless person that's all he is. Just my two cents.

I'm having a hard time believing this one - was everyone aboard able to read his text? Was he texting on a 3-foot iPad in a 45 point font? Who the hell pays attention to what other people are texting?
Only two people who saw the text, the woman and a man sitting right behind. That very close proximity.
