Like Newly Discovered Planets British Artist Steve Mcginns’ New Work ‘gobstoppers’
Like newly discovered planets, British artist Steve McGinns’ new work ‘gobstoppers’ express a vibrancy of life. Four foot circular metallic prints are mounted onto laser cut steel sheets less than a millimetre thick. He attempts to ‘capture a moment or image in it’s entirety’ by taking a cross-section of colour or light waves and manipulating them into a oneness. Even the titles are considered. Each individual edition, 9 plus 1 artist copy, is followed by a letter, mimicking both the Kepler classification of newly discovered planets and the school numbering system. A nod to a childlike understanding of the universe.
