Killed For A Selfie: Baby Dolphin Dies After Being Passed Around By Tourists As They Posed For Photos With It On A Spanish Beach
When tourists in southern Spain discovered a baby dolphin that had lost its mother, they started taking selfies with the animal instead of calling someone to rescue it. According to Daily Mail, the workers arrived at the scene 15 minutes later, but the animal had already died from stress. They blasted the 'selfishness' of tourists who are 'obsessed' with taking photos: "Cetaceans are very susceptible to stress, and crowding round it to take photos and to touch it causes them a big shock which greatly accelerates cardio-respiratory failure, which is what happened."
Tourists Destroying Popular Oregon Rock Formation
The so-called “duckbill” sandstone formation was one of Oregon’s icons, protected by a fence to keep away people because it was unstable. However, this didn’t stop some vandals from climbing over the fence and pushing and pulling on the rock formation. Eventually, they knocked the rock down. Allegedly, the group of people did this because one of their friends had broken their leg because of the “duckbill”. The famous landmark was also known as “Pedestal Rock” and “that Pacific Northwest rock.”
Tourists Chase Peacocks, Rip Out Their Tail Feathers At Beijing Zoo
A Beijing wildlife park near the Great Wall became the scene of some serious animal cruelty. Chinese tourists were spotted chasing and catching peacocks, and then ripping out feathers from their tails. Some tourists tried to stop them but they were unsuccessful. The violent offenders did not stop until they scared away the last peacock.
Mob Of Tourists At Costa Rica’s Ostional Beach Prevents Sea Turtles From Nesting
The Ostional Wildlife Refuge in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, is one place where olive ridley sea turtles nest. Unfortunately for them, hundreds of tourists swarmed the beach and scared the turtles away, meaning a large number of them didn’t lay eggs. These tourists were angling for some good photos: some of them even stood on top of turtle nests, while others put their kids on top of the animals.
Tourists Break Into Eco Park And Strip Away All Its Lotus Flowers
Tourists picked all the lotus flowers in the Longqiao Cultural and Ecological Park which is located in Sichuan, China. The park was supposed to reopen soon, but had to stay closed after the tourists’ actions. Summer blossom season started in June and ever since then, Chinese tourists have been breaking into the park to pick the flowers. However, some tourists did more than that: they also went fishing by the stream and destroyed the park fences. Since March, the fences were mended five times so far. A park representative stated that they “cannot control the tourists.”
Schoolboy, 15, Exposed As Egypt’s Ancient Temple Graffiti Vandal
A 15-year-old Chinese teenager from Nanjing named Ding Jinhao scratched his name into Ancient Egyptian artwork at the Temple of Luxor, on the East bank of the Nile. Internet users quickly found the culprit, eventually forcing the boy’s parents to apologize for what he did. The teenager wrote: “Ding Jinhao was here” in Mandarin on the 3,500-year-old artwork.
Man Climbed Onto The Pedestal The Statue Sits Upon, Attempted To Take A Selfie And Knocked The Statue Over
One more victim of tourists who wanted to take selfies was the nearly 130-year-old Dom Sebastiao statue in Lisbon, Portugal. A person climbed onto the pedestal because they wanted to take an impressive photo, but things ended badly. Very badly. The tourist knocked the statue over and broke it into pieces. Police officers arrested the perpetrator after they tried to run away.
Tourist Knocked Down The Saint Michael Statue While Trying To Take A Selfie (Lisbon, Portugal)
Another attempt to take an impressive selfie ended very badly. One tourist seriously messed up when they destroyed the statue of Saint Michael at the National Museum of Ancient Art in Lisbon. The visitor knocked down the statue when they backed up a bit too far for the selfie. The statue of Saint Michael shattered in such a way that it was impossible to repair it.
Bison Calf Euthanized After Yellowstone Tourists Put It In Their Car To 'Keep It Warm'
Two tourists thought they were doing a good deed when in fact they were dooming an animal. The pair found a bison calf near a road in Yellowstone National Park and put it into their car so it would be warm. This act sealed the baby bison’s fate: it was no longer clear where it came from and which bison was its mother, meaning it couldn’t be reunited with its herd. What’s more, it started approaching people and cars on the road, creating dangerous situations. The bison had to be euthanized because two tourists couldn’t leave wildlife alone like they should have.
Russian Tourist Fined $24,000 For Colosseum Graffiti
CNN reported that authorities in Rome have slapped a 20,000 euros ($24,800) fine on a Russian tourist who carved his name into one of the city's most famous historic landmarks. The 42-year-old man was apprehended after a guard at the Colosseum saw him scratch the letter "K" in a section of brickwork. The graffiti was found on a ground floor section of the nearly-2,000 year-old structure where restoration work was taking place.
"The damage to the monument is notable," site superintendent Mariarosaria Barbera said. "The incision cut out part of the surface of the structure and compromises its conservation and image."
Yellowstone Hot Spring Turning Green Because Of Tourists Throwing In "Good Luck" Coins
A hot spring pool found in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, changed color from crystal blue to yellow-green because tourists kept on throwing coins and rocks into it. The pool is known as Morning Glory, and has recently been nicknamed “Fading Glory” due to how much it has changed. Tourists throw in coins and rocks because they hope that good luck will then follow them. The debris stuck in the pool’s vents has slowed down the water’s circulation, dropping the temperature and allowing the proliferation of bacteria that produce the unusual pigmentation.
Jerk Tourists Chase Endangered Tibetan Antelopes For Photos, Get Fined
Seven people were fined for pursuing a herd of Tibetan antelopes with their cars. Driving two white SUVs, they trespassed into Selincuo National Nature Reserve in an attempt to take pictures of the animals. When the speeding cars got dangerously close to the antelopes, anonymous witnesses filmed and captured the illegal actions. After people started posting the footage on Weibo (China's equivalent of Twitter), it caused a huge backlash as netizens expressed anger over what they believed to be a careless and dangerous way to photograph the creatures. Later, Lhasa police made an official statement saying that the drivers had been detained and the cars they had hidden had been found. Eventually, the Forestry Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region published the results of the investigation, imposing a penalty of 15,000 yuan (2,257 US dollars) on each of the suspects. The reserve's caretakers responsible had their basic allowance suspended for three months and the local administrative departments were also blamed for the incident.
That's $22 000 AU. Hope the antelopes were okay. (EDIT: Oops. Yeah. Not $22 000.)
Tourists Destroy Beautiful Azalea Trees In Bloom In China: Some Even Use Branches For Barbecue
Spring symbolizes rebirth, but this doesn’t give anyone a license to destroy nature for their own pleasure. The Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in China always draws in tourists who want to enjoy the blooming azalea trees. However, not all tourists are happy with just looking. Some of them broke off branches from the beautiful trees, others picked flowers, while there were even some who pulled trees up with their roots. All of this was for the sake of some pretty photos. One group of vandals even used some branches to start a barbecue.
I hate people most of the times. they deserve to get slapped in the face!
The Beach Near My House After The Tourists Left
Recently, Margate beach in United Kingdom was covered with empty bottles, paper plates and other dirty "leftovers." According to the BBC, Thanet District Council cleaned up the litter and is trying to identify those responsible.
"We love to see people enjoying our beautiful sandy beaches but the mess that was left on Saturday was shocking and heartbreaking to see," Bob Bayford, the council leader said.
"There were a number of groups on the beach on Saturday and permission had been granted for a 500-person event, at the Nayland Rock end."
Tourists’ Selfie Mania Destroys Rare Pink Grass
South China Morning Post reported that a field of pink, cloud-like grass flowers in a park in eastern China had to be cut down on Sunday after it was trampled by selfie-taking tourists. These flowers bloom for about two months every autumn, but those in the Binjiang riverside park in the city of Hangzhou were completely destroyed. Photos published by various Chinese media outlets show tourists ignoring rope barriers and flattening the 10-acre area.
People Allegedly Destroying Stone Pillars At Hampi
After a few vandals were caught on camera destroying the pillars of the Vishnu temple at the UNESCO world heritage site in Hampi, India, the locals started demanding strict action against them. Roughly a week after the video surfaced, Karnataka police have arrested four people.
All of them confessed to the vandalism. "They were excited [about] seeing the monuments in Hampi," Ballari SP Arun Rangarajan said. "They claim to have toppled the pillar in sheer excitement. They had no idea how historically significant Hampi is."
"All four have been [receiving death threats] since the video went viral."
Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in east-central Karnataka, India. It became the centre of the Hindu Vijayanagara Empire capital in the 14th century. By 1500 CE, it was the world's second-largest medieval-era city (surpassed only by Beijing), attracting traders all the way from Persia and Portugal.
Hampi's ruins are spread over 4,100 hectares (16 sq mi) and UNESCO described it as an "austere, grandiose site" of more than 1,600 surviving remains of the last great Hindu kingdom in South India.
Tourists Destroy Natural Wonder By Carving ‘Send Nudes’ Into It
One of Iceland’s famous moss-covered hills was vandalized. Tourists carved in the words “send nudes” into the hill in South Iceland, which means the moss could take many years to regrow. This is far from the only time that tourists targeted this hill — there are more words (and names) carved into the hill. A local tour guide Gunnar Birgisson told the media that an Icelander started the trend when he wrote his name on the hill many years ago.
Tourist Spotted Burying Used Diaper In The Sand On Boracay Beach
A viral video of tourists burying a soiled diaper in the beach in the Philippines prompted local authorities to close the area for water quality tests. After determining that the water quality remained safe, the Boracay Interagency Task Force reopened the area later in the day.
"This is an unfortunate incident pero [but] we will not tolerate those who violate the law whether foreigner or local. [Everyone should follow the law],” Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat told CNN Philippines. She said that authorities will work on aggressively informing tourists about beach rules and regulations.
In April 2018, the world-famous Boracay island underwent a six-month closure and rehabilitation after President Rodrigo Duterte called the island a “cesspool.”
Tourists Destroy Priceless Italian Monument While Trying To Take A Selfie
Selfies aren’t harmless. Locals living in the city of Cremona, Italy, can certainly attest to that. One of the crowning jewels of Cremona is the well-known “Two Hercules” statue. Unfortunately, two tourists broke the marble crown that sits atop the coat-of-arms, flanked by a pair of figures. The incident happened when the tourists climbed on the statue and were taking a selfie. The duo at fault are still to be located.
Photos Taken By Bali Dive School Shows Coral Defaced With Writing Etched In
When dive centre OK Divers posted photos of a coral that has been intentionally defaced with words and names etched into it, people were absolutely outraged. As the post went viral, the divers used the opportunity to send an important message: "Like many of you, we believe that their dive guide should have known better than to let them do this," OK Divers said. "Nonetheless, the diver has come forward, they are truly sorry. Even though it won't help the coral, we appreciate their honesty and believe they have learned a lesson they will never forget ... [we ask you to] think of what we all can do to prevent such things from happening and how we can protect the precious underwater world."
Indonesian Tourists Vandalize Olmec Monumental Sculptures In Tabasco
Two tourists from Indonesia vandalized a grand total of 15 sculptures in the La Venta Museum and Park in Tabasco, Mexico. The pair sprayed liquid oil on the archaeological pieces, one of which was the giant Olmec head (pictured), also known as the “The Old Warrior.” What makes things even worse is the fact that the sculptures that were damaged by the tourists dated back to 1,000 BC.
Hm, I just wonder, what is the point in spraying oil on a monument if not a deliberate act of destruction?
2,000-Year-Old Megalithic Tomb In Spain Vandalized With Harry Potter References
According to The Olive Press, a 'Deathly Hallows' symbol appeared on the La Casa dos Mouros dolmen in Vigo, Galicia. Despite it being a protected site, Mayor Oscar Dominguez didn't want to give the vandal any credit: "Maybe JK Rowling dropped by to promote her latest spin-off,” he joked. "Either way, it is clear that the graffiti was carried out by an amateur in the world of magic."
Tourists Damage Ancient Landform Where Dinosaurs Roamed
A group of Chinese tourists damaged a 200,000-year-old land formation in a geopark in Zhangye, in central China. They bragged about it on a video-sharing platform called Douyin. The footage (now deleted) shows two men and a woman (not including the person behind the camera) walking on red and yellow stripes of sand, a signature of the Danxia land formation. There was a text next to the original upload: "Good things must be shared twice: we went through the back door and didn’t have to pay for a ticket. This area looks even better."
"I destroyed a 6,000-year-old [formation]," a member of the group was heard saying.
According to Liang Xiaofeng, an assistant researcher at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the bottom layers of the Danxia landform date back to the Cretaceous period, about 40 million to 100 million years ago. "That’s the era from the show Dinosaur Corps Koseidon, when all the dinosaurs were active,” he told South China Morning Post. The sand layer damaged by the tourists was estimated to have been formed 200,000 to 400,000 years ago.
Local authorities have launched an investigation to find the tourists as soon as the video became public, and experts were called in to determine the damage. According to the government's statement, railings around the affected area which had not yet been opened to the public were also damaged. The city's government said it has set up measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Japanese Bamboo Forest ‘Cries’ After Tourists Vandalize Trees
A bamboo forest in Kyoto, Japan, started “crying” after inconsiderate tourists carved graffiti on the trees. The forest has been attracting tourists from all over the world with its breathtaking serenity, but at least 100 bamboo trees have been vandalized with English, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese writings. While maintenance staff has managed to conceal the damages with some green tape, it was reported that the affected trees will eventually be cut down.
Tourists Allegedly Vandalize A Mosque In South Of Morocco
Local news website Tiznit37 reported that tourists who spent nearly a week in a resort called Boutbouqalt desecrated a mosque by leaving offensive insults and drawings on its walls. After this incident went viral, residents of Arbaa Ait Ahmed called the act “savagery,” demanding that the authorities intervene. The police were reported to have opened an investigation.
Tourists Doing Stupid Things At Yellowstone National Park
Why are there so many Chinese & Asians in the list, torturing animals & destroying nature? It as though they have utter disregard for the environment.
Whatever the fines are, they are too low. Seems to me that the governments should take drastic measures to stop the vandalizing of historic places and nature reserve. Perhaps jail sentences up to 25 years will make people think before they destroy.
Jailing / fining don't really work, They come out worse. I would like to see enforced work at these places. Fixing the fences, cleaning, doing the things that help protect flora and fauna.
They'd put it on instagram. They need jailing, fining and forbiding to put photos in public sites, apps, etc.
Ure you do but how are you voting? The GOP has the attitude that if coal burns you burn it if wood burns you burn it if the planet melts and the forests burn its all good cus it's money. Ya can't eat money.. My point is that measures like security and better care of facilities cost money. Tax dollars. The stuff that Keeps getting cut back is our parks. The GOP wants to drill in Yellowstone. They probably are tracking us into a giant earthquake....and all we Need to do is Green out. If every one does their part. Instead the Chinese are burning the planet to make a buck and we shop at Wal-Mart and buy their cheap c**p. Selfishness starts with Government. We have the most selfish pig the world has known for president. Just think jabba the Hut with DontheCons face on it. How can we tell selfish people to look outside themselves. "We have met the enemy and he is us" pogo
The best, most useful, answer to the problems
Sry Wil Vanderheijden, i couldn't reply to shawn's comment so i did it here "nobody gives a f**k" wtf are you talking about, you're literally the person who started talking about your feelings about chinese people in the first place. didnt wanna be rude, but ur obviously someone who doesn't get it. please, how about you stop acting like such a rude hypocrite and you stfu about your racist opinions?? jeez
I call total b******t Lama Lady. It doesn't matter one bit about "killing" their own culture. It doesn't matter about lack of education, lack of law, lack of order, lack of respect. None of that matters. You can go through all that and have absolute empathy for all living creatures. Let me give you an example. I know someone who was treated very very badly through all their 'growing up' years. Verbal abuse, mental abuse and frequent physical abuse from the father of the family. This person grew up to be the best father you can imagine. Kind, patient, understanding in all things and that is reflected back in the huge love the children have for them. Empathy is dead simple. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If you have half a brain in your head you don't lead by example, you learn from experience. And i too notice certain countries whose population hasn't done that and China is right out front.
No worries, you're totally right.
@Shawn, yes your hostile way of 'solving' problems is exactely the reason why those chinese tourists behave this way. Unfortunately China went thru centuries of complacency (and saw itself as the only place on earth worthy to live in), later they got defeated and had to wake up in a long and painful process that involved killing its own culture, intellect and worse. People alive today have suffered from lack of education, lack of law, lack of order, lack of respect because they underwent different reigns of terror in the past 300 years. Chinas modernization just started. One can only hope that they learn fast and move on to the next level. Humans in general have no respect for what they do not know. Think colonies, womens rights etc. We need to educate educate, go the long and high way. Not the brutal and short one please
... and post the crimes, criminals and the punishments as full examples to future idiots
it's a whole state of mind, it's not only up to the government to make changes. If people take responsability once, that would be a start.

Outta be death for the Chinese offenders.. Shut the f**k up about your feelings nobody gives a f**k
I think it's great that you get angry at people who don't look after the environment. I do too. But this is not a chance for you to get racist and offensive and unfair against the entire Chinese population and culture. You think these "Chinese" offenders are uncool? You being a racist like this is just as uncool, perhaps even more so. Please stop. It's people like you who hurt a lot of different cultures on the internet, perhaps without even meaning to. I'm sorry if I offended you or ranted for too long, but I really find these generalised views offensive and disgusting.
@Addelyn I entirely agree with you. @Shawn that is so, so rude to all Chinese people reading this. Even non-Chinese people will feel offended by reading this, as long as they're not uneducated racist internet trolls. Is your comment insinuating that if they're non-Chinese offenders, they can get away without death, while Chinese people should? If so, that's such a disgusting thing to say, and you are no better than any other racist jerk on the internet. It's true that a lot of these people are Chinese/Asian, and that looking after the environment isn't embedded in their culture. But does that mean they should just die, while other offenders get away? Additionally, not all Chinese people are like this. How many Chinese people do you know? Probably one or two, and you probably don't even know them that well. If you did, they would have corrected you a long time ago. How can you unfairly generalise against people like this?
That is a disgusting thing to say.
This was the first thing I‘ve read this Monday morning. I now don‘t want to live on this planet any longer. :(
Same... I don't understand how someone can have such an utter disregard for living beings and historic monuments
This may be an omen. In a world hellbent on destroying mankind's means for survival, polluting the air, the water, the earth to provide shrinking support for an ever-increasing population, this may be an unconscious effort to erase the history of the culprits responsible. I can't imagine anybody proudly taking credit for destroying our accomplishments as a celebration.
I completely understand and I'm offering this as an antidote: https://www.boredpanda.com/funny-animal-fails/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic
Don't let the Chinese shitbags go to Mars, they'll f**k up that planet too.
The saddest thing about how you feel, just like me and so many others, is that there's nothing wrong with the Earth. I get up every day and just marvel about this planet. The whole place. Weather. The ecosystems. The animals. Everything. Except for people. I also thank the Universe for people like those commenting here. Keep sending out that Love & Light

I'm Chinese but generalization is not exactly wrong. By the percentage, security all over the world are always up and more wary of Chinese tourists and thanks to these articles, they should be. It will never hurt to be extra careful and particular because would you actually risk destroying another 1000 year old antique over annoying several Chinese tourists? No. So, no, being racist isn't good, but it's very proper to be particularly careful of people because culture defines attitude and attitude, defines conduct. If you know that one's culture teaches no care of nature, then you know how to counter is and be extremely careful over people who are taught so.
I myself work in travel industry and sometimes I am just SO done with Chinese tour groups... The thing is, you do notice differences between groups coming from different countries. They do behave differently. Luckily we haven't had anything awful happen to us, it's more like Chinese tour groups just don't really listen to the guide and just wander around taking pictures and touching things (some that you should not touch). No other nationalities do this so there is a marked difference. That said, we also get Chinese school groups and these are almost always a bunch of very nicely behaved kids who listen to their teachers and teachers do keep their groups in order. I really do like being with these groups, because kids listen to you and if they do something they shouldn't be doing, I can just tell them to stop and usually it's backed with teachers rushing to the scene and making sure the student behaves. Not rudely, mind you, just taking care of the situation.

Ha but here's the thing. It's fun for people to stomp on others and it's fun to be racist. It's fun to make fun of the way we look and talk. And it's fun to generalise. It's fun to call everyone selfish and stupid if you are not of that race. And its fun to keep your head in the sand and push the stereotypes. You know what else is fun? It's fun to purposely forget that every race is filled with individuals and it's nice to forget that we are changing, growing and learning. It's nice to lump us all together as uncivilised and uncouth. It's nice to blame one race for all the issues and turn a blind eye to those who are fighting back against it. The good things that we do? Nah, it's buried and forgotten. Laughed and mocked. (Sarcasm) You know what I enjoy? I enjoy being stared at. I enjoyed being asked if I eat sharks. I enjoy people mocking my dogs and asking me when I plan to kill them. I enjoy always being the worst. I enjoy never feeling right.
Bored panda is being very weird with me right now. It keeps deleting all the stuff. I agree with Margareth. Generalisations can be fine, as long as you don't use it to shape your entire perspective of a race or country. It's good to be aware of those bad apples and what they could potentially damage but it should not be an excuse to be racist or rude. It's a cultural thing (with a bit of history thrown into it) and that's probably why the behave differently. Imagine growing up in a enclosed society and all of a sudden you not only have the money but also the opportunity to travel the world. It's like a kid in a toy store. That's not an excuse but it's a potential reason. Not all cultures see eye to eye. But both side need to learn how to get along. one to stop leaving a trail of destruction and the other to stop jumping to conclusions the minute you see one of us. The funny thing is, if this were directed back, all hell would break loose.
I thought only imbeciles asked when you planned on eating your pets and thought the worst of people, also why would someone stare at you for just being a person? Not that you are not special, but being Asian in general is not noteworthy as just something to stare at. At least not in PA we have a nice melting pot in our state. I’ve also personally been around tourist taking pictures of things very responsibly. Often it’s a family and I offer to help take there pictures. There are a lot more people of Asian decent taking selfies of things but I also see a lot of every race/nationalities taking pics. I am sorry I am so blinded but Off of general incounters and not what I have read off the internet I think people are getting a bad wrap for what a few idiots have done and if you look hard enough you can find at least one or two from every country.
Yes, I didn't hear anyone being racist about the Russians in the comments, but I did hear a bunch of c**p about Chinese and yeah....That's not cool. It isn't ok to do destroy important property, but it isn't right to be racist towards the Chinese. Thanks for saying that.
If the glove fits!
