40 Times Gravestones Were So Uniquely Amazing That People Had To Share Them Online
Interview With ExpertDeath is an unavoidable part of our life cycle, and whether we like it or not, it catches up with all of us. Saying that one final goodbye to someone close to you is never an easy burden, but people have always found ways to make it just a bit better.
There is a lot of beauty in that. For example, if you were to take a walk through a cemetery and observe all that's around, you'd probably notice some very unique ways in which people choose to honor their loved ones. But of course, you can also do that without leaving your home because there's a subreddit just for this purpose. Scroll down to see the best pictures posted there!

Children's headstones always hurt to see. My heart goes out to his family.
She may have been from the silent generation, but she definitely got the last word in!
I think it’s beautiful that they’re side by side like this. Rest in peace! 🤍🥋
“The graveyard’s most popular and romantic statue is the one on the Mazzone grave. The effigies depict the two Mazzone siblings dancing together. Mario died while serving as a pilot during World War II, and his sister Maria died just before her wedding. Their mother wanted to represent them finally reunited in the afterlife, Mario wearing his uniform, and Maria wearing her wedding gown.”
As the mother of a child with multiple special needs, I have always been so ambivalent about this idea. I love my son with every fiber of my being. There are days when things are so difficult and I wish he didn't have the issues he does. But those very issues are a part of who my son is. To not have them would mean not having him be him. I do believe in an afterlife and have contemplated if the idea of my son being "cured" is worth the change to his identity. I don't know the answer; it's probably different for every person.
he joined gene roddenberry, leonard nimoy, deforest kelly and james doohan before his time. may he "trek" though the stars forever.
How sad she passed 2 years after the Titanic sank at only 54 years old.
He died so young (heart failure at age 24.) His family asked for donations to be made in his memory to a German Shepherd rescue, in lieu of flowers.
Diagnosed with cancer at age 2. May she ride horsies forever in the great beyond.
Here is the front side of her grave: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/88161474/teresa-anne-bolden#view-photo=63447526 She was murdered by someone she hired to help her repair her home.
32 years old. It makes me so sad to see the gravestones of people who died so very young. For those curious: Jaquan was shot after leaving a nightclub and tried to drive himself to a hospital, but died on the way. https://www.wtvr.com/news/local-news/jaquan-reid-death-petersburg-reward-july-25-2022
If you've ever seen Supernatural you know that you need to burn this doll immediately! ;) Seriously though, dolls were often made in the likeness of a child (usually with their own hair) who passed away.
Mary Irving, Greensboro, GA, 1740-1828. According to lore, it's a "map" showing how she died (bitten by a snake.)
According to OP on Reddit, this is her son's grave. He died aged 6 of a disease/condition that he was born with. No one should have to outlive their kids.
Died aged 21 of asphyxiation due to vomiting in her sleep after combining alcohol and Oxy. Truly just a tragedy. As someone who has struggled with substance abuse myself, I know how hard it is to stop/fight it.
She died aged 5 after being struck by a car after running into a road :( The driver was not speeding (he was apparently driving at 12 MPH) and the little girl unfortunately dashed into the road either behind or in front of a parked car, giving the driver no time/ability to notice/see her. The driver was 22 at the time and visibly traumatized at the hearing. It's an absolute tragedy all around.
I personally don't care what happens to my corpse after I die (yeet me out of a cannon for all I care, I'm dead!) but I have told my bf and family that THEY need to do whatever they need to do with my body after I die. If they want to bury me conventionally and have a gravesite they can visit - go for it. If they want to cremate me so they can keep the ashes with them - go for it. Make jewelry out of me? Go for it! Give my body to one of those forensic training corpse farm places? Go for it! XD The only thing I have requested is that they donate whatever organs of mine that are still functional/donatable. (I have the donor sticker on my license, but just in case.)
I want all my organs to be given to my family for them to sell, the bone marrow to taken out and sold on the blackmarket and whatever remains sell what you can. What you can't throw it into the woods for fungi and other plants to grow on
Load More Replies...It's even worse when there are only small crosses in a row. I always stop when I'm visiting relatives at the cemetery so they don't get lonely.
Load More Replies...I saw a lovely headstone years ago of a man who passed away in the 1980s. His headstone had a 1980's pickup with a camper shell on the back on one side, and a man fishing from a small boat on the other side. I wish I had something I could enjoy that much.
The internet is an amazing place! There is a website for everything. 61949476_1...5c9034.jpg
