It's only a chair with the light on.

I have always enjoyed sharing funny moments of my life with friends. When I was in my early teenage years, I was a bit afraid to talk about struggles or embarrassing situations, but bit by bit I've learned that those daily struggles are actually the stories that people relate to the most. It has always brought me joy to share a story which makes people around me laugh and be surprised that they're not the only ones facing similar difficulties. I also like to portray moments that bring me joy or warm emotions, even if they're less funny, making people go "Awww!" is also a great feeling! Everything that I show is a concentrated version of real stories from my life, just with a little bit of exaggeration for comedy purposes.

This summer I've had a situation which made me think "that would make a funny comic" and my brain liked the idea of making a comic so much that I started noticing more and more scenarios that are suitable for a comic format. That's where my story as a comic artist began.

That's why, if something funny happens, I instantly write it down on my phone in a short sentence. Therefore, I have a long backlog of humorous situations. When I have a moment for drawing, I don't need to spend time thinking of ideas; I just need to browse my list, choose which one I want to draw today, and make the magic happen.

I use myself as a reference a lot. My phone is full of selfies with various poses (especially hands—damn those hands!) and exaggerated facial expressions. If I feel stuck, it also always helps me to browse artworks of other artists. I follow many great people on Instagram, and my Pinterest has already learned my taste so well that I can browse it for hours, charging me up with creative energy extremely well.

As an illustrator focusing on daily life, I encounter a few significant challenges. One of the main hurdles is being able to tell a story that preserves the emotion, remains clear, and is as concise and concentrated as possible. It's crucial not to lose my reader's attention by drowning them in details. Learning to focus on key elements that convey the essence of the scene takes time.

Another challenge is maintaining a balance between consistency and innovation. While it's essential to establish a recognizable style, there's a risk of falling into a creative rut. To address this, I experiment with techniques, themes, and introduce different characters to the comics. This not only keeps my work dynamic but also allows me to evolve as an artist.

My favorite comic strip is the one portraying the difference between how people imagine an artist looks while working and how they actually appear. I often encounter this perspective, and I find it genuinely amusing how people romanticize the artist's work when, in reality, we are just silly, introverted beings drawing while wrapped in a blanket burrito. I also believe it's essential to inform people that if they want to approach me while I'm working, they'd better bring candy!

Even though I currently enjoy the format of short bite-sized comics, I would love to try showcasing longer stories with deeper plots someday. Additionally, drawing proper backgrounds has always been one of my biggest struggles in creating artworks. Therefore, it is definitely in my plans to challenge myself by portraying stories that require a detailed view of well-crafted backgrounds.

It is also one of my dreams to publish a little book of my comics. I genuinely hope I can achieve this when I reach 100 comics. So my plan is to keep it up for quite a while - stay tuned!

Truth. My husband and I have smart watches that count steps. We will walk together and he gets 1/2 more steps than me. :-/
