I'm Andrew and I'm an animal photographer best known for my captivating images of felines. While I used to be terribly allergic to cats, I now live with my girlfriend, our three cats, and a slew of rotating foster kittens outside of D.C.
Recently finished a project about cats' love for the green stuff.
I have a book coming out on June 19th called CATS ON CATNIP and wanted to share a few shots from it. This book was sooo much fun to make and I hope you guys enjoy a sneak peak!

So for all the people who are crying cruelty, educate yourselves first. While kittens who are genetically disposed to react to catnip (YES it's in their genes) will typically not show any type of response until they are between 3-6 (but up to 9) months old, catnip is HARMLESS to them before that. As for kittens that are not genetically predisposed towards catnip, exposure to it will not affect them in any way, shape or form, whether it be positive or negative. The photographer and his S.O. are doing a wonderful service by fostering in addition to caring for their own cats and it's obvious from the pictures they are doing a darn good job of it if you beyond the catnip ecstasy. Even the catnip induced euphoria alone should be enough to tell an intelligent person that these animals are comfortable and feel secure; they wouldn't let loose like this if they didn't feel safe. This couple is doing all the right things, so everyone needs to check their facts before posting baseless, belligerent comments

Most cats don't show an effect to Catnip until they're at least a 4-5 months old. Some cats never show an effect.

Literally laughed out loud. My husband is so creeped out by Gollum. Sometimes I will make the human version of this cats face and whisper that to him. Priceless, keeping the marriage alive.

This is a beautiful cat. I was given a gray kitten once for my Birthday when I was very young. I named him Stormy. A couple days later my Mom had a nightmare about cats. She took my beautiful little kitty and gave it away. I'm 48 and I still think about that beautiful, soft and fluffy little kitty. Especially when I see gray cats.

"catnip" eh? i knew a cat that ate about $15 of "catnip" one night. he didn't do much for about 2 days rofl. always had to be cautious of where you left your "catnip" lying around after that haha

When is the book coming out? I need to buy it for gifts for my friends. I didn't get a shot of my favorite cat with catnip - she looked like a drunken hooker - trying to get the table leg to pay attention to her.

Catnip is a member of the mint family and grows to 3 feet or more in ditches or wherever it's moist. I used to pull up a full plant on the side of the road, bring it home, and toss the whole plant on the floor. Now that's fresh catnip! My cats rolled all over on it, and ate it. It was potent. They were very happy.

We've got a catnip plant by our driveway, and the cats love it (whether they are ours or not. There's a flat spot on the plant where they always roll)

I wonder how any of the big cats would act when zoinked on catnip.... On an totally unrelated issue, can someone point me to a place where I can buy a couple kilos of catswort plant in Southern parts of Kenya? It's for a friend.

Uh it really does seem to get them high. Mine take a long nap after. There isn't an equivalent for dogs. It's pretty weird, lol.

We recently had a foster mom who got a bit tooooo hyped up on the stuff and would bunnykick her kittens. She was flagged after her first round.

I am trying to grow some catnip for my beasts. I hope it happens! Those pics are awesome :D My previous long gone feline Friends were brought catnip once. Once, because they started drooling and became obsessed with the floor where it was for several days xD
