My name is Lara Jo Regan, a California-based photographer and author of animal books who often seeks refuge in dogs and trips to the beach. Yearning to capture these two beloved subjects together, I visited the most beautiful seascapes in the country where canines are allowed to relax, romp and roll.

Chasing beautiful, blissed-out balls of fur around in the warm sand, splashing sea and salty air was truly exhilarating, a tonic for the soul; the intense proximity to their spontaneous primal energy made me feel like part of the pack, lifting my spirits higher than the noonday sun.

To share and transmit this extraordinary feeling of freedom and bliss, I put together the images in a recently released book entitled, Dogs on the Beach My hope is that it will provide a portable pleasure-packed escape from our complicated worldly human woes and coax us to enjoy the eternal gifts that both dogs and beaches give us: an open invitation to live in the moment in sync with the rhythms of nature, to laugh and play, to find happiness in life’s sensuous, elemental pleasures.
