I Photographed People’s Demons
8Kviews
As a photographer, I shoot people. As a psychology enthusiast, I dig deeper. I wanted to know that I wasn’t alone with my inner demons, so I created a photographic study where I asked 9 subjects to reveal their darkest fears to my camera. The key was to not to shoot a “before & after”, but an “outside & inside”: the first portrait is how the person presents themselves to the world, and the second is their embodiment of their demon – something they hide from others.
After the second portrait was complete, I switched my DSLR to video mode, and asked each subject a couple questions on their feelings about this exercise – do you think you’re better off now that this has a distinct body? Will you change the way you feel towards this fear? Do you think it resonates with other people?
What about you, what is your deepest fear?

This is really cool!
Grea idea. Actually, we all have a shadow part of ourselves, a darker side. Trying to illustrate it is be a great way to explore ourselves.
I don't think the 'inside' makes 'the outside' untrue, it's just another side to the same person. Also, are those one's 'actual' demons or merely their 'perceived' demons?
