“Money doesn’t grow on trees”. As an artist who also happens to be a university student, I recognize this statement to be very true. With canvases and conventional mediums on which to paint being rather pricey, I turned to whatever i could find for free. Turns out when fall rolls around, leaves make the perfect (free) unique canvas.

I paint them with acrylics, which somehow seal and preserve the leaf. Don’t ask me the science behind it, i’m an Arts student.

It started with three leaves 2 years ago that i painted for fun, but when i posted them online a magical thing happened: People wanted to buy them. So, for the second year in a row, I’ve been collecting fallen leaves, painting them, and selling them to friends, fellow students, and community members at different art/craft sales.

So the next time someone tells you money doesn’t grow on trees, go paint some leaves.
