Tis a wicked thing the wild… So I got some wood and broke it apart with an axe. I drew some sketches for guidelines with chalk on the floor and connected the fractured pieces back together. I wanted to capture the emotion of the animals in South Africa for my next installation.
Simon Max Bannister also known as 'Max’ is a South African visual artist. He is currently based at Londolozi Game Reserve as artist in residence. While keeping a diversity in materials, his language is unique, passionate and self-taught. He has created multiple abstract wildlife private commissions, works for wine estates, game reserves and educational facilities. His passion for the environment has also inspired an immersive collaborative innovation of land art walks. Max has participated in events such as Infecting the City, Site_Specific, AfrikaBurn, The South African National Arts Festival and was recently awarded prestigious Wildlife Artist of the year 2012 by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.
