In the Northern state Chihuahua I taught German in a private Mennonite school. 4 years I live in a small town, called Ciudad Cuauhtemóc. I´ve seen a lot of men with cowboy hats and boots. Shops sold them through the town everywhere. I couldn´t count them on ten fingers.
The indigenous Tarahumaras live deep in the mountains and came to work on the fields. The women wear colorful dresses and sandals made of old car tires. They can run long distances very easily. So they win often marathons. The life was quite laid-back and time ran slow.
The time there was a huge challenge but it expanded my horizon.
Out of my way… I’m landing in the wild west of Mexico
On the “Zocalo” in the heart of the town
“El kiosko” in the center of the “Zocalo”
Entering the one-way-streets of Ciudad Cuauhtemoc…
The main thing is it works
On shopping tour in downtown
Selling sweet corn
Everything for your Volkswagen…
Tarahumaras while shopping
In a small shop (bodega)
Small shop
That’s why I had to wait a long time for craft workers
Old houses need a new look
This one too
Shirts (chamarras)
Decoration
Sunset
Only rust holds all together
Mechanics
Street sign
Hey who left the ottle on the callbox
Fancy ice-cream?
I love the tortas (sandwiches)
The saloon is closed…Unfortunately
Need new glasses?
Another shop
I love them
Still searching a present for x-mas?
Candles
Decoration
Please have a seat
You have got the choice…looks like mennonite style.
