I Hide Giants That I Make From Wood In The Wilderness Of Copenhagen
My name is Thomas Dambo, I’m a Danish artist who works with recycled materials. Over the last 3 years I made 25 big recycled sculptures around the world. Recently I made 6 hidden giants in my hometown of Copenhagen.
The sculptures are found in some of my favorite places around the city, places where people don’t go to often, because it’s off the beaten track. The sculptures can only be found by using a treasure map, or a poem engraved into a stone near each sculpture. These give hints on how to find the different giants.
I’ve made all the sculptures from recycled wood. Mainly from 600 old pallets, an old wooden shed, a fence and what ever else I was able to scavenge. Every sculpture was made with the help from local volunteers, and each of the sculptures was named after one of the volunteers.
I hope my art will inspire people to see the big potential in recycling and taking better care of our planet.

Share on FacebookI am really impressed here! This is one of the better entries here on Bored Panda. Thank you so much Thomas, on your creativity. Thumbs up!
These are amazing! They make me feel like a child again because they look so magical and immediately have a personality. It makes me so happy that people like you exist, it really makes the world a better place!
This is really cool but if I actually saw one I'd hippity hoppity run the hell away
careful not to roll down the hill and break your crown :-)
Load More Replies...Amazing! Now I want to make them clothes made of grass ans moss!!! :P They are beautifull and this project is fantastic!
This is absolutely wonderful ! How interactive with nature without being intrusive (due to wood as natural material). Love the map to assist finding these creatures too.
So unique and creative. Love it. I wish I lived closer! Deb Michigan, USA
dont you have your lines, the ones that can be seen from the sky?
Load More Replies...After watching the Attack on Titan it is a bit scary to me, but they look really cool. Well done :)
So cool! I kinda really want to travel there just to find them :oD
In my village, a guy made pathways through a forest to reveal parts of it that were so beutiful, but they were way too densely filled with vegetation. The pathways are amazing, there are 18 of them and 4 of which have a small resting spot with a place for barbecue, relaxing, camping, even a small kid's playground. It's amazing honestly, the best spot is next to a waterfall that barely anyone knew about, it has the biggest playground/camping site. I go every week to spend the day there with a few books, a lot of coffee and some cookies and food. Only the previous generations knew about it, since, FUN in their time was exploring and playing outside, so they saw much more of the nature's beauty than us. Still, it's nowhere near what this guy made, props to him!
My wife and I went to boothbay Me and saw 5 of them very awesome to see.
These are SO cool! And yes, I did find them all :-D And there are more like them elsewhere.
Really really nice work man! Philippines has many mountains, specially on the island I lived, and would really love seeing giants like your guarding its peak ;-)
Exquisitely beautiful in all aspects: Design, Execution, and most importantly, Intent. Bravo, Hr!

I've been visiting them all with my kids. They just absolutely love and adore them. And were all about "when will we go visit another giant, when will we go visit another giant" until we had visited them all.
Magnificent!! Unfortunately, in the USA some of the morons who live here would have them destroyed in a week.
Amazing work, Thomas! We have an earth art sculpture park "Poustinia" (www.poustinialandart.com) located in Belize, Central America, and we would LOVE for you to come down and do a sited sculpture at the park. If this reaches you and you wish to contact us (which I hope you would) email me at: david_ruiz@hotmail.com We are also on facebook (Poustinia Land Art).
"I hide" How exactly do you hide them..? Doesn;t it make a lot of noise if you assemble a giant sculpture? I do like your work tho!
This is so amazing It would be so cool to have more fun ideas like this keep up the good creativity!
Wonderful giants, each an obviously cheeky character making them more attractive, beautiful to see children appreciate them too, such skill Gosh, I hope you are fully appreciated
Makes me want to visit Copenhagen. What a great idea. Cool sculptures Thomas!
How absolutely magical. Woodland creatures returning to the forest.
