I Make Animals And Monsters From Leather
I have been making these for already 7 years and the monkey is one of my current favorites. They take 7-9 hours each to make, not including the pattern making.
I was inspired to take a medium that is used for trendy objects with a short consumer life span, turn the model on its head, and produce objects to love for 60+ years.

Hi Lisa! I do limited runs of minis as well from time to time:) I'm not clever enough to fit two eyes on a small yet so they are all cyclops .. still cute and a good price:) Thank you for the well wishes!

If you like animals, why use leather? It hurts animals and the planet to make leather. There’s lots of food synthetic leather out there.

Hi there, I understand! This began as an art project to show how sad it was we consume and waste. I collected unused scraps and overages in my city to start this educational endeavor. I am still using that leather I collected. If you want to know more about the exact leather I use and who it's produced by and how email me and I'll give you all the details. lisa@leathermonsters.com - I look forward to a time when animals are not being eaten. Until then I will continue to gather up landfill-bound new leather and create these.

I am a sewer but nothing elaborate; simple things but I've sewn heavy vinyl and found that to be a challenge so kudos to you for these sweet creatures made by leather but why are they so sad?

Hi Zoe's mom:) They started as an art project showcasing leather waste in my city, I kinda stuck with the sad eyes, some are neutral though. They elicit empathy, I think that's kinda neat.
