I turn 23 next week and, although I physically resemble an adult, I often feel much younger on the inside.

When I was a teenager, I assumed that when I turned twenty, I would miraculously transform into a fully functioning adult, equipped with the ability to make logical decisions and do taxes. I soon discovered that this was not the case.

I’ve been finding adult life quite confusing so I started to draw cartoons about it for anyone else who feels stranded between adolescence and adulthood.

1. Ever since I became a grown up, I’ve felt like a small child trapped in an adult’s body.

2. I have no idea what I’m doing or where I’m going.

3. I often feel like a very small fish in a very big pond.

4. Being independent and having to solve my own problems can be hard.

5. Especially because I’m always blowing things out of proportion.

6. I’m absolutely terrified of committing to anything.

7. Especially diets and exercise regimes.

8. But I still get irrationally upset when other people don’t want to commit to me.

9. Sometimes, I think I’m probably going to be single forever.

10. Even though I’m stunningly beautiful…

11. All of the time…

12. As an adult, you are expected to start a career and this involves applying for jobs.

13. Sometimes, the sheer number of stages in the application process make me feel like I’m competing in a much less exciting version of the Triwizard Tournament.

14. I’m not very good at interviews.

15. I often panic and say the first thing that comes into my head.

16. Or just have full-blown existential crisis.

17. I don’t have a massive amount of money so I’m having to get creative with my spending.

18. Sometimes, I worry that I’m not living life to the fullest.

19. I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and take on new challenges.

20. But sometimes I find it hard to stay motivated.
