My name is Laura Gray I am an abstract expressionist artist from Belfast, Northern Ireland.

My paintings explore the physical and emotional connection an artist has with contact on canvas – to become lost in the act of painting.

Each piece acts as a representation of my mind at that moment, I don’t plan what to paint, instead the painting takes on a life of its own, turning otherwise incoherent thoughts into something tangible.

The gentle hues within hmy work are dominated by darker tones, shadows and scoring, the abstraction of the work a mimicry of emotion through automatism – a visual projection of thought through colour and texture, focusing on the juxtaposition and dimensional quality between light and dark.
