Theunis Botha, a well-known 51-year-old big game hunter from Johannesberg, South Africa, just had his last hunt. The man was leading a group of hunters in Gwai, Zimbabwe, when they saw a herd of breeding elephants. Sensing the danger, three of the animals stormed the hunters and Botha shot at them. What the man didn’t see was a fourth elephant coming after him from the side…
The animal lifted Botha with her trunk, so one of the other hunters shot her, causing the elephant to collapse. As she fell dead, the elephant dropped right on Botha, crushing the hunter to death.
According to Game Hounds Safaris, Botha’s company website, the man pioneered European-syle ‘Monteria hunts’ in the region. These kind of hunts use large packs of dogs to drive deer and boar towards them before opening fire on the animals. He was also known for hunting lions and leopards.
The man left a wife and five children behind. His body was taken to Hwange Colliery Hospital mortuary on Saturday.

Share on FacebookReal shame the elephant died. More hunters should die gruesome deaths. Did I say more? I mean ALL.
The poor elephant having to spend its energy crushing people. I think the hunter deserved it.
Load More Replies...Doesn't happen nearly often enough. Hunting isn't a "sport". If hunters really want to make it a sport, put them on a large piece of fenced in land and let them hunt each other. THEN it will be a sport.
Whilst I am sorry for the wife and children of this person, and offer them sincere condolences for their loss, I can't help but think that this man has finally got his just desserts!! To make a living out of hounding, persecuting and mindlessly killing endangered animals for pleasure and/or profit, has to be one of the most offensive ways of making money!! For me, it is right up there with people trafficking & drug dealing....but the only difference is, that this kind of hunting is still-amazingly!!!- LEGAL!! Shame too, on all the countries and governments that allow this kind of barbarism to continue!!
Its way worse than drug dealing/ smuggling. Shooting animals and using conservation as their badge to do it (then smiling in their pics w the dead animals) is the lowest form of humanity. Mankind is natures greatest mistake.
Load More Replies...My husband says that I shouldn't feel happy when a person dies, but I hate animal cruelty and it's just impossible for me to feel pitty for these people.😒
It's a true shame that the elephant died too - but I can't think of a more fitting end for the fella. Talk about Karma. The Universe always catches up with you in the end. Surely a nominee for the 2017 Darwin Awards!?
