Trees grow tall and mighty, and they don't care what stands in their way. Neither signs, sculptures, nor other things that we attach to them can match their strength.
We at Bored Panda put together a list of pictures that show "hungry" trees devouring everyday objects just because they can.
So continue scrolling to remind yourself that nature is a force to be reckoned with. And if, for whatever reason, you need more proof after you're done, fire up our earlier publication about the times Mother Earth made people go "well, that sucks."

Trees Can't Read
It's the cousin of Charlie Brown's kite-eating nemesis!
Load More Replies...Do not eat? What kind of sign is that? This one had to be fabricated right? I've never heard of such a sign.
I get the impression the text is photoshopped. Why would a street sign say "Do not eat"?
Yeah, I tried searching and couldn't find any such sign. Not to mention in what scenario would a sign this size, with this vague a message, even make sense or be helpful? It's not like, "Do Not Eat Berries", or even, "Do Not Eat or Drink Here".

But as much as we admire them, trees are in a lot of trouble. A recent first-of-its-kind study assessing every kind of tree native to the United States found that 11% to 16% of them are threatened with extinction.
The research was carried out across the lower 48 United States over the past five years. It was a collaboration of multiple different organizations throughout the country and even a few global contributors. The result provided a better understanding of the current condition of the local plants and a starting point to work on to protect them.
This Tree Grew Around A Stone Sculpture Of A Face, Making It Appear As If There Is A Green Man Trapped Inside
Alright but I'd like you to imagine this at night. Like, imagine you're new in town, you're walking your dog at night and you see this. Don't know about you but I'd s**t my pants, pick up my dog and run
It guy that with posing ivy don't be fooled he'll come out an get ya with his green vines.

The tree munched on the fence and spotted you looking at him. âWanna have some?â
For some reason I hear the swedish chef from sesame street when looking at this one.
This Sculpture Of Jesus At Abandoned Cemetery In Poland Gets Slowly Absorbed By A Tree
I'd love to know how much time passed between these two pictures.
I can't unsee Jesus with his arms crossed behind his head doing a sassy pose
I knew it have to be on "those" lands! Do we keep it low or do we tell that in stalinist era our country expelled tens thousends ukrainian /ruthenian people form their lands? that's why the cemetery is abandoned. We only remember when we were being hurted and not when we were hurting others ...

The scientists looked at the extinction risk, patterns of geographic and taxonomic diversity, and leading threats facing the species. The most common threat turned out to be invasive and problematic pests and diseases.
How?
Damn, how long is your freaking nap? I don't even want to know what a sleep is to you.

Our mountain property had allot of old growth trees. As we cleaned up the around house we were finding allot of quartz and granite rocks most the size of softballs and volleyballs. There was a tree that V'd from the ground up that we stacked the rocks in between. That was 25 years or so ago and now those rocks are imbedded in the tree and are now so high that it would take an extension ladder to get to them. It looks pretty cool in the fall and winter when the sun shines through them while there aren't any leaves on it.
Richard Reames in Oregon does amazing art with trees. Check him out sometime: http://www.arborsmith.com/
Sharing Is Caring
If you think about it, it's very morbid - two living trees are holding two pieces of a third tree's corpse.

That's weirdly enchanting. It looks like something happened and people disappeared mid-everyday life, and nature just took over.
"As we have warmer climates, in our northern parts of our country, we see some of these invasive insects being able to go further north to attack more trees," Pell explained.
For instance, take the Emerald Ash Borer first found in Michigan.
"The early projections when it was first discovered were that it wouldn't make it to Canada. And now with climate change, projections are going to become more widespread in Canada and certainly in the United States," Pell said.

During An Engagement Shoot, We Came Across This Truck In A Tree

Additional climate change threats include worsening drought conditions in parts of the country, widespread wildfires, and more intense storms with heavy rain. Other stressors for trees come from development and agriculture.
"What we’ve identified are the species that are most at risk," Pell said. "And we're also looking at some habitats that are most impressive on some of these areas and coastal environments, for example, that are under threat for development, and thinking about ways that we can conserve plants, both from a land perspective but also looking at what can we do for individual species that are really at risk."
Massive Strangler Fig
Those things like to snack on entire mysterious lost temples in the jungle - a fence is small potatoes by comparison.
Oh, man, as a kid, we would have had our friends meetings in this tree

Well it's not called the Conscientious Snuggler Fig for a reason. Gorgeous though.

It's very strange that's such a carefully made wall would be built right up to and somehow through a living tree, which then went on to continue living and here we are!

One thing they can do is protect their habitat. Specialists are also working to put at-risk trees in living collections — places like botanic gardens and arboretums.

Trees Sucking On A Swing In New Jersey

This happened in our backyard. My husband used to live here and put up a pressure pole to do push-ups and pull-ups etc. And when he moved away he left it there and we have since moved back in and the tree has done this

The Way This Tree Is Stripping The Paint Off This Sign Only To Cover Itself In Paint

This Forgotten Bike That Grew Into A Tree
âHey oak, check out my new bike, itâs fire.â âDats so cool, palm, Iâm getting a sign for my bday.â
Just shows how much better things were made back then. Today's bikes would rust and crumble before a tree had time to eat it.
If you zoom in to the right, there seems to be a wood nymph/sprite holding the frame.
More than one tree, it is being shared by two, soon, possibly 3.

One of them is the Franklin Tree, also known as the Franklinia, which is native to the state of Georgia.
It was collected in the 1800s and never seen in the wild again. Now, however, it's found in over 100 living collections. An encouraging success story when you consider what is at risk if we lose threatened trees.
This Tree Swallowing A Trespassing Sign
Did someone actually spray paint the rest of the sign onto the tree trunk to try to keep it visible?
OK I'm back...if you look further on (I don't know what number it will be at by then) there is another tree that has a green sign....it looks the same way. Wonder if it has something to do with the tree absorbing some of the paint? Now this really WILL be on my mind all day.

"Our livelihood is the environment," Pell said. "Trees are one of the most important organisms when it comes to the health of our natural environments here in the United States."

Tree Grew Into This Rock And Made A Natural Pickaxe
I hate to be that guy but... I hope the user knows it has to be sharp for it to be a pick-axe..
Lol ironically, people in medieval Poland used to make clubs by cutting into thin ash saplings and wedging sharp pieces of scrap metal or even jagged chunks of flint into the cuts and then letting the sapling grow around the pieces for a few years to lock them in and then cutting it down to pretty much baseball bat length. High tech? No. Devastatingly effective when you're an unarmored peasant conscript fighting other unarmored peasant conscripts and even professional soldiers with decent armor? You betcha.

All these poor trees having to grow around and absorb our trash. Like a lot of this stuff could have been removed long before the trees ate them. It may look cool but I find this sad and it must be harmful in some way.
It is very harmful. A tree's bark is like a humans skin. Imagine having a sign grow into your skin! It is very painful and opens them up to infection and other nasty things. If the object is wrapped around the trunk their is also a good chance of it cutting off the circulation and literally strangling the tree to death! If you ever see anything wrapped around a tree's trunk or limbs please take it off!
